Hey Hot Tuna,

How do you like that Scout??

I won’t dispute YFT are “less migratory” than some other tunas, but the Feds still call them “Highly Migratory Species”. Surprised nobody brought that up yet…

...sometimes i wonder if EF has an inside track at what i had planned?

LR, it is a fact that great minds think alike:wink:

And regardless of what NG says, it is always good to look at last years reports to see what is on the horizon. How are you going to know where you are going if you don’t know where you have been. Don’t get me wrong, I keep a log and keep good records that I lean on pretty hard from year to year, but it is always helpful to look back and see what was going on.

And if you dont think that way happened around this time last year has any bearing on what is happening/about to happen, well,if you think it doesn’t, then…

I do not disregard what we did last year, or the year before, or the year before, etc., for the past 30 plus years, but it really does NOT tell you, or anyone else…that it will happen at the same time this year. As I stated previously, look at the Megadock releases from last year versus the year before.

If you don’t think that I keep track of this, then you are highly mistaken. I am simply saying that just because it happened at that time last year, it does NOT mean it will happen again this year.

I keep very accurate records of what we do, and where we were, and what w

Netgirl is dead wrong and a little bit on the childish side. It is soooo dissapointing when you are enjoying reading a good post with some great info, and then some moron has to jump in and flex his muscles to prove how much he knows and how little everyone else knows. Here is what I do know, and it cannot be disputed. Fishing is all about patterns… NO matter what year it is. We could very easily look at the temperatures of the water from last years post, which is the most important in my opinion, and apply it to this years fishing. The more information you can gather before going fishing, the better. End of story, and netgirl, we know you would love to keep disputing all day, but give it a rest… Good info comes in various forms and from many different sources.

“If it’s saltwater, I’m in!”

Caseydog…Wrong way to join this forum! I learned long ago to listen to my elders when it came to fishing. I use to love to hear what the old gillnetters (most missing fingers) would talk about on the docks when I was a kid, and I miss my conversations with Randy Scott (Capt. of the Carolina Clipper). He helped get me going when I was full time commercial, and was a dear friend. In the 20 years I have been fishing off SC, there have many highs and lows. Last year was an all out high on dolphin, but dismal on Tuna. If you listen to the biologists, they say it is a 6 year cycle on the tuna, I guess we will know in 09’.
Netgirl is a billfishin’ fool, and they did well on the YFT’s last year, while most of us struggled…hang around a while, and you may learn something.

So are the YFT going to show or not?

Stick around a few more weeks and we’ll see

What has 100 teeth and holds back a monster?

I don’t mind apologizing for calling her a moron, however, I still disagree with the response to some good info. And just because i just joined charlestonfishing.com does not mean i am a newbie at fishing. But i won’t try to explain myself as to why I am qualified to respond to on this forum. I like getting along with people, and am not difficult to get along with at all… it just rubbed me wrong… that’s all!!

“If it’s saltwater, I’m in!”

edisto fisher…

your post to me is a bit confusing. you wrote to netgirl that you have never fished with her, nor do you know her abilities or experience…

then jumped on me and told me how great of fisherman she is…

which one is it??

I stand corrected Net Girl. You are absolutely right as usual, what was I thinking giving a heads up to my fellow fishermen. Although some of us have been talking about YFT on this forum for a well over a week now you have made it abundantly clear that I was completely out of line by showing what happened last year about this time. I have obviously never fished before, seen or caught many migratory fish for decades now, nor have I kept any kind of records in my entire life whatsoever. Gosh, I guess you are the only one doing those things. Wow. Go figure.

No one ever said they were coming this week, ever. No one insinuated it,you just read things wrong and were off to the races. Of course a HMS is not going to just show up on the 1st of March each year, that is totally absurd and goes well beyond saying,at least I thought. If you would take the time to actually read this post (or just one of the others about YFT in the past week or so) you would see that bumping this up for discussion is totally relevant and in a timely fashion.

So anyway guys, I was wrong to bring this up just yet for discussion. Go ahead and put all your trolling gear away and lets all just wait for Net Girl or perhaps the guys in Georgetown to let us know when we should start getting prepared.

You are right about one thing Net Girl,I have never fished with you nor do I know you, your abilities, or your experience. That by the way is a two way street.

EF,
Perhaps you misunderstood my last post. I was just responding to your comment about “regardless of what NetGirl says…”

Never said that i was the only one who kept track of things like where we went, what we did, etc. But your comment about me made it sound like that I did not do tho

EF,

Next time it might be a better idea to just write a new posting reminder about the fishing a year ago rather than bringing up the entire thread and getting some folks way too excited:smiley:.

I was excited for a minute, then realized it was a 2007 post… but other folks are clearly still talking about it at the docks and the bar!

I guess the other reason I started looking at the date was knowing that CaptJohn left for the Southern latitudes.

The only difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys.

But if it happened at that time a year ago, then, it CAN happen again this year at that time:wink:

I knew Captnjohn had left and snapped to the date right away.

Maybe this thread should have been brought back up in the Offshore
Discussion.

There have been VERY few tuna at the 226 hole (less than 20 from what I’ve heard) caught in the last year or so. The GTH is the place to be with your kite on one side and a cooler full of squitches on the other. Back in the 70’s and 80’s we very rarely saw a tuna in SC.

24 Scottie Craft
Twin Chrysler 454’s
Semper Fi - USMC 67’

we caught lots o tuna in the 80’s. Maybe we were just fishing when the “tuna run” was hot.

There’s a “tuna run”? When is it?

Whenever Reid saddles up.
