Got the boat launched around 930 and fished the rising tide and first 2 hours of falling tide. fished the intracoastal and some creeks. The water temp was 60 during the rising tide and 64 at the falling. Managed to avoid the rain all day but the wind was ridiculous. I decided to move around as much as possible with the new co pilot. I was tossing live shrimp along grass lines when the tide was up. Covered about a mile of grass and caught one undersized trout. Fished some docks in about 12 feet of water and caught a small black drum. Decided to fish the grass lines again and tossed out my bobber. The wind was howling and I thought my bobber was just going over a white cap. I realized it was gone! My rod starting going and I was in for a good fight. It felt like a red, maybe mid 20’s. When I got it to the boat I was excited to see a 19.5 inch trout. I scooped him up in the net and landed the largest trout of the year so far. Only 1 inch from my personal best. It took hours worth of searching to find him! Hopefully the water gets even warmer soon. The trout were caught in 4 feet or less of water.

How did you get your live shrimp? Awesome catch! I was out yesterday (3/28/15) all day throwing artifials hoping to experience an awesome catch, but I got skunked. I keep looking for live bait to catch, but I didn’t even have luck finding bait to catch.
Agatha- I bought the live shrimp from haddrell’s in Mt Pleasant. Shrimp and mullet are scarce right now due to the cooler water. They will start showing up in numbers in the next few weeks.
