YFT Sunday

We left Edisto Marina before 4am, but it was a 3 hour ride to 150 ft, since the 3-5’ was head on, and more 5 than 3. However it was not bad for fishing. There were plenty of dolphin around Edisto Banks. When we got to 10 in the box, we headed for deeper water. ’ found no weed lines, but did find a slight temp break south of 226, in 500’.

Working the break paid off, when two rods went down simultaneously. It was busy for the three of us, clearing lines, with two fish on, and one of them dumping half of a 50W. It turns out the two were twin Yellowfins, weighing 38 and 40#.

It was about dark when the fish were cleaned, but we still seared some tuna steaks last night. And wow, “it doesn’t get better than that”. A little Sonoma Pepper from Whole Foods gives just enough flavor to the fresh tuna steaks, and 12 seconds per side is just enough cooking.

Reports around Edisto seemed to be a lot of dolphin, several wahoo, and one blackfin.
