Yo JumpNCobia, Look In Here

@JumpNCobia

Have you heard about this guy? He’s set up like you, sort of, and he’s doing the great loop

Really, a Tohatsu pushing metal sled around the great loop setting records.

Here he is, you could Google him

And here’s his track, watch him go. My money is on the great loop, lol.

Anyway, it reminded me of you. Hope all is well

Here’s a look at his rig

Yep…Been following him since Saturday when he left Pensacola. He hit some Port Canaveral rock jetties on Saturday and tore up his auto pilot mount…8’ to 16’ waves Sunday caused him to bust his seat. Seems like a very intelligent guy with BALLS. He knows what he is doing to navigate the waves through the ditch to avoid cresting wave tops.

I think the most interesting thing is the help he is getting along the way. Couple of guys brought him a new mount for this auto pilot and a new seat!!! I love this country and its people!

Here is a link to his tracks for any one interested…

Hope that ECU holds up!!! :slightly_smiling_face:

Robert ran aground today after falling asleep. He is okay but he tore his boat and equipment up. He is sitting in the weeds on the west side just before the entrance to North Santee Bay on the ICW

I know stuff

He’s back underway. I’m pulling for him, but geeezzzz, what an undertaking at his age.

Godspeed

Looks like he’s been stopped now for 9 hours north of Georgetown

Not looking good

Sorry for the repeat post…Its getting harder to visually read a computer screen with lots of content

He was sleeping…in his boat. He is now using the Garmin (Navionics) app on his phone until he can get a SIMRAD replacement at his next stop.

Are those “things” on his bow called tidal rails?

He talks about them in the first minute of this video. I’d call them splash rails or spray rails, but if you said tidal rails I’d know what you were talking about.

@JumpNCobia

I think the record has been relinquished at this point, I just hope he finishes now.

What an adventure!

Almost to Manteo, that’s like turn 1

Wow, he went out Oregon Inlet into open ocean, crossed the Virginia border and headed north in open ocean.

Godspeed

Researching the Great Loop I found that most of the time its done as a couple sipping wine on the back of a yacht! Robert is definitely breaking the mold with the WeldBilt!
