Killed a fat black yote yesterday. Been eating awfully well. Shot a 2.5 yr old 6 pt this morning. Thought it was a doe because he had no rack on the side facing me. Broke off at the nub.
Sat is stand for another hour and along comes another yote looking for my deer. Yote lost scent as my deer was in the creek and kept coming towards my shooting lane. Popped him at 40 yds. He was also fat.
Have video of deer acting very jumpy at 1 AM in food plot. Then have video of pack of at least 4 yotes running through plot.
Kill them all!!
I’ve got a few showing up around my place, but they aren’t in numbers. That’s likely to change I imagine.
I am trying.
Does anyone know if the old story that yotes will eat meat covered in anti-freeze and then die is true.
Hunting, fishing, and poker are my sports. Work when necessary.

Lots of federally protected species might also come in to play with poisoned meat. IE turkey buzzards, hawks/eagles, etc. Also could affect coons, possums, bobcats. I think I would steer clear of that idea.
Also, kind of a crappy way to go, varmint or not. Probably a debate for another time, but sportsmanship and all that even for a predator. Call em in and give them some high speed lead poisoning and then tan their bellies to make streamer flies from.
I tried to call one in last weekend but no luck. Had a doe on the ground already so was hoping that blood would be in the air. I’ve heard a good number of them before. Their den is off my property though. They bread with a stray black lab this last summer so I’m expecting big ones soon. Ill probably try to kill some off in January.
Anyone ever tried to bait them with deer carcasses? I was thinking of coupling bait with a Pavlov’s dog element.

Is the Lab running with them? If so, you need to put her down to!
Haha oh I know. I love dogs as much as the next guy but this one is rogue now.

I believe most all anti_freeze sold today has an embitterment agent in them. If so nothing will touch it.
Takes more than just some poured over meat to kill. used to be able to put a loaf of bread in a pan filled with anti freeze and it would kill.
Trapping and shooting the sorry things seems the best route. Poisons don’t just target coyotes, they get em all. Coons, dogs, cats, etc.
Lead poisoning works!!! Ha,ha,ha… LMOA!!!

(**() auto correct haha ha ha.
Because we have pictures on deer cameras of the lab with the yotes, then a few months later we have black yotes that are bulked up.

Apparently its possible, but not likely. That being said, I would reason to believe that if you have a lab on camera with the pack, its certainly possible. Kill one and have DNR investigate; I’m sure they would like insight.
http://urbancoyoteresearch.com/faq/do-coyotes-and-dogs-interbreed-mate-one-another
"Do coyotes and dogs interbreed (mate with one another)?
People often speculate as to the frequency of coyote-dog hybrids, or coydogs, in urban settings. Coyotes and dogs are related, and they are biologically capable of producing hybrid litters. Coydogs have been raised in captivity. Genetic surveys of wild coyotes have rarely documented evidence of dogs in the genetic makeup of coyotes, despite domestic dogs and coyotes sharing the continent for the past 9,000 years. Although it is possible, coydogs in urban settings are unlikely because:
•Coyotes are highly seasonal breeders; dogs are not.
•Coydog females have a shifted estrus cycle that does not coincide with the coyote period.
•Domestic dog and coydog males do not tend to litters, whereas male coyotes do.
•Coydogs may have lower fertility than either domestic dogs or coyotes."

Not sure what they are eating. I was wrapping up a building around the time of this picture so if my pops told me I was likely too distracted to listen.
He killed the first one on our property years ago with his Dodge the same day he killed his first big 8. It ran straight down the middle of the road.
