Jon boat is a '94 Alumacraft 1436 + '92 30hp Evinrude

the jon boat’s a work in progress:

chevy…how do you like the diamond plate deck on the front. i have one maid of plywood right now on mine. Does it get hot? Do you know how heavy it is? I’ve been thinking about doing something different with mine. I like the way you have yours done. Nice Work!

it weighs less than wood for sure, all framing is aluminum angle from onlinemetals.com, i got 8 sticks for the price of 3 sticks @ lowes, plus it's stronger "6061" alumimum. as for the diamond plate, i score it on the cheap off craigslist, $25 each for 4'x4' sheets that would prolly cost $150 each @ lowes. it doesn't get as hot as you'd think once it has the bedliner on it. it's (**() near blinding without bedliner though in direct sunlight, lol. everything topside will be coated with the lowes roll on bed liner it's $18 for a qt size can that will do the whole boat. i worked all day on st pattys on it & the black bedlined floor was not "burn you" hot even after hours in direct sunlight. not sure how it will feel mid july, but this is my winter rig mostly, i am setting it up for duck hunting. there will be 2 more hatches in the deck, & one for storage. the one pictured will be a locking gun box. everything is attached with 3/16" aluminum pop rivets + 5200. if i was to do it over again, i'd cut out the middle bench & make a little bit smaller deck so i have a larg

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

OPti, that sure is a clean whaler, mine sure doesnt look that good, been run hard and put up wet, lots of cracks in the Gelcoat, Guess running a 200 black max on a 17’ has taken its toll! Wore out Store creek and the sound and out to the 40 tho!

Thanks. It’s not as good as it looks in the pic… it’s covered in gel coat crazing. Typical for one it’s age (1966). The outer hull had been overcoated with cheap paint by the prior owner (you can see where it has peeled off in spots). I did repair several holes and some glass damage in the transom area. You can see its a lighter shade of blue. But it’s dry (hull weighs 275# bare) so that’s the important thing. Some day I will refurbish her but I’m having too much fun fishing it
