Your Kayak, rigging, accessories

Let’s see your kayak and what accessories and rigging you have done. I have added some homemade outriggers and a rod holder I can use while I stand up and fish. This is the second edition of the outriggers because I trid to go cheap with the rodholder’s the first time. The rod holders obviously act as the bases. I haven’t tried these out yet and if they don’t work then I’ll start over! In hindsight I should have saved up and started with a boat I could stand up in but I actually like paddleing the Casper 12.5, probably because I haven’t paddled anything else!

Please let me know how the outriggers work. I am about to set mine up but was going to use the flush rod holder mounts. But I am going to be standing in my kayak for flounder gigging. Really excited!

Lot’s of rigging stuff in the Kayak Fish SC blog.

BrGard,
I have some outriggers if you are interested in them. My kayak is pretty stable so I don’t really use them. I could shoot you some pics if you are interested.

Ivy,
I have similar ones on a square stern canoe. The ones you made may be a little long. Mine alow me to troll with two people standing and casting at the same time. nothing i would attempted without them. May try decreasing the angle and shortening the PVC, just my $.02

Please shoot me some pictures if you wouldnt mind. Thanks!

All Good points, I still have not gotten out to try them yet so I will let you know. I’m looking for a push pole of some kind now.

i put an eyebolt and a cleat on each side. cleats obviously for tying off/anchoring and i attach my anchor rope to one of the eyebolts. i roll up the anchor rope, lay the anchor across the front, and bungee cord it to the front. if im keeping fish ill also clip a chain stringer to the middle of one of the cleats. sure a 10lb anchor is a bit heavy for a yak but comes in handy while shad fishing in the tailrace  takes about 45 mins to paddle vs the current to get to the dam from the ramp across from gilligans and ive turned many heads being the only yak up there but its well worth it in my opinion.

I use a stock Ride 135, but here’s my crate. It is built around the design on Palmetto Kayak Fishing site. I added a motorcycle triple tree bag to the front fun the tackle box you see here and other little odd and ends. I can carry 7 rods but usually only 3. On the right side I have a homemade fish donger, fish grips, air horn and anchor. The inside has lots of room for more stuff. I put a bungee across the middl for hanging lures.I can fit about 5 3700 plano bids in there. Hope this helps.

Awsome boat! Let me know when you move up and maybe I’ll be ready for that type of investment. Let’s see some more rigged boats and trailers for that matter. I just got rid of the broken down Jet Ski that came with my trailer so I need some ideas on how to convert it to at least a double kayak trailer.
