Ran out for an after work Sheep excursion… found a few right before dark… all bites on oysters and mussels, fiddlers got snubbed…
Some were almost white where you could barely see the stripes and some where so dark you could barely see the stripes as well, caught in the same location so that was cool! Should have took more pictures but we were in go mode!
I don’t eat fish but am going to cook some for the better half. Any particular way to fix them for her first time having sheeps?
Thanks Bonzo! The lip rip was a proud moment for me no doubt haha! She said she doesn’t think she wants to do tacos so now I’m leaning towards staystrapped idea…maybe half with some ‘slap yo momma’ and pan seared, the other half baked with some salt pepper and lemon type combo… we shall see!
I wonder if they’d cook up well on the half shell on the grill…? I love the smoky taste reds get filleted but not skinned and you know the sheeps have the scales to withstand the grill. Nothing like a little seasoning, smoke and butter.
I find the flesh comes out extremely soft and tender, almost too soft. I’m going to try cooking them a bit longer to firm them up. But first I need some decent weekend weather to go out and get one lol
Just filleted 5 of them myself, freezes better than almost any inshore fish too. I was thinking the same as Surf or Fish about doing some on the half shell
