I picked this sucker up at the Charleston Angler in Mount Pleasant the other day. I’ve yet to ever use a chatterbait but that guys I talked to at Charleston Angler said they’re very good for catching trout, especially right now he said they’ve been eatin them up. He also said that reds will go for them as well.
Has anyone had any experience with this kind of lure? I’d like to know how it’s been workin for ya’ll and how to use it to get the most out of it.

Ask RADDADDY, he might know … haha

Haha what do you mean? Who is RADDADDY?

Good one, Hurricane.
Raddaddy is an inshore charter captain who posts on here. My advice is to hang on to his every word; as he is as good a fisherman with whom I have ever had the pleasure to fish …and I’ve been doing this professionally for a long time.
Maybe he’ll answer the Chatterbait question.

I have fished with him before that’s the only reason I know, he took me out when I was working out in Hollywood, learned lots and I appreciate everything he taught me on that trip, Caleb’s a good kid too

Thanks ya’ll. I sent him a PM. I think I’m gonna go to Pitt Street tonight and try this baby out for some trout.

Chatterbait is one of the more versatile lures you can throw. I call it a “no bainer” bait bc you can petty well just chunk-and-wind so to speak. That being said I have had FAR better results with it during spring and fall rather than the heat of summer. Water is very hot right now, IMO a finesse style bait is more productive this time of year but that is just my opinion…a Zman PaddlerZ crawled along the bottom or Trout Trick soft plastic would be more of my choice for thowing artificials right now, but again thats me. Did have 2 and 3# trout crashing rafts of finger mullet yesterday at daybreak so the topwater is good early right now, for that I like a Super Spook Jr, but any “walk the dog” style bait can produce for you on top. Good Luck
