Headed straight out to the hole on a decent ocean at 25mph and later bumped it up to 35mph. The crew consisted of Zoo Crew, Frontier (formerly verizon), AC and Killer. Unfortunately the Key Stone Cop had an engagement he could not get out of and would later regret. Started trolling in 200ft of water on an ocean that resembled Lake Marion at the crack of dawn, dead slick. After trolling for a while and finding few fliers, no grass and no life at all we pushed on further offshore and found a small weedline. We ran into a pile of slingers and decided to throw the yamahas and in neutral. In roughly one hour we caught somewhere in the neighborhood of around forty slingers all on bass rods and spinning reels. We were in roughly 80 degree water that was around 550ft deep. After releasing twenty or so we grew tired and left in search of larger mahi. We found them around 2pm (in Chunky Dunks’s secret hole, don’t tell him)in 250ft of water on scattered grass and caught three in the 25lbs range and lost another two or three the same size. We ran back in around 32mph on decent ocean with a north to north east wind (weather man wrong).
Finished day with 31 mahi, mostly slingers but lots of fun on the light tackle.
What we tore up and lost:
2001 Gmc Z71 with dented door panel from one deer casualty.
One ugly stick broke in half.
One pair of mustdad needle nose pliers at the bottom in 500ft.
One 2009 Gmc duramx withintercooler pipe blown off of the turbo, limped home at 35mph.
