05/07 report/new reel and rod

Hit the sand around 7am left around 12:30. Went to the far north tip and the winds were just tolerable. The forcast said 5-10mph but they were steady 10-15. Had to move from far north and come halfway back to the parking lot. Caught the usual whiting caught just enough for bait and switched over to throwing chunks on my bait rods. Of course i had 2 shark rods out again. Managed to get a decent sized atlantic sharpnose. Had a big run on my smaller bait rod throwing chunks on a 4/0 circle hook. He took about 100 yards out before i could even grab the rod. I tightened the drag and he was on for a second and then popped off. Felt like a big redfish but was more than likely a medium sized stingray. I think i might switch to using j hooks on my bait rods when throwing chunks.

Got a another daiwa bg8000 to add to my arsenal along with a okuma longitude 12ft heavy rod.

How about those pepole riding the horses down there? Been fishing out there for years and have never seen that. I hooked something on my abu 7000 that I could not turn. Peeled off line so quick and ended up popping off.

Fished/swam this afternoon for about an 1 1/2 hrs and didnt get a single hit on fresh finger mullet. I was just north of the washout.

When we having a pool party, I will bring some shrimp and see to it that 40 makes it home ok if he takes to drunk:smiley:

Yea i saw those horses. The lady in the white shirt on the horse almost ran right into all my lines before i signaled her that my lines were there. I also saw some horses on there last year. It also sounds like you hooked into the same think i did fishless. Screaming out line then popping off. 2nd time this has happened. Ill try to get to bottom of what it is tommorow.

thats one pretty reel
