I fished IOP close to breach inlet today. I was on the beach and set up by 0900. The tide was falling and I took two rods. One shimano big baitrunner for sharks and another 4000 size shimano for bait and anything willing to bite. I used frozen shrimp on double hook rigs I tied using 20 lb mono. I got hits on the frozen shrimp almost as soon as I put it out. I caught a total of ten whiting in about an hour and a half. I had one run on a live whiting hooked to my big baitrunner but like usual missed the hook… Nothing huge or exciting to report but it was nice getting out. The water beyond the breakers was calm today and was making me wish I took the boat out instead. There’s a ton of bird activity about 100 yards off the beach. I saw one huge ray free jump about 300 yards out but no luck on the sharks. Good luck if you hit the beach this week. Hopefully this helps a few guys.
Also, I’ve read people were having issues hooking fish that were biting. I landed every fish that hit my bait. I was using the smallest hooks I could get my hands on. I’m not sure of the size offhand but they looked like something you’d use in a pond or for trout. Nothing fancy but they got the job done.
