Fished Edisto Friday and Saturday.
Landed on Thursday night and went out for an hour and ended up cutting myself real bad in the dark so I immediately packed it in and went in. So point being fished Friday and Saturday during the day only. Totals on the days
Approx 36 Trout
7 Adult Reds (some pics included)
36-48 Blues
5 Stingrays
80-100 Whiting.
Reds are thick. I use light tackle so it can take 45 minutes to land one so 7 reds plus the other fish keep me busy!!
congrats, that’s a lot of fish.
Might want to upgrade to heavier tackle if targeting big reds. Fighting one of those fish for 45 minutes probably reduces their survival rate after release.
Also, that’s weakfish in the pic, not a trout. Different regs for weakfish if keeping one.

I would say that was an “EPIC” day in the surf! For sure a whole bunch of fish.
And yep that is a Weakfish.
For sure get some stronger gear if you “think” you might hook a Bull Red Carp Drum. The last Big Red I landed pulled ZERO drag off the reel, once I locked it down. Reeled it in from 60-70yrds in easily less than 5 mins. Upon release, it took off like a rocket.
But again, Great catching! Most…some…of us can only dream of those kind of trips.
Are gray trout aka weakfish even legal to keep anymore ??? Not trying to be a smart azz but thinking they were illegal for a while and haven’t seen a rule book in a long time:wink:

Everyone can be rest a shored… I sit in the surf with the fish for 10 minutes until they absolutely force me to let them go… up to my chest usually. Trust me you don’t have to worry about me apposed to a lot of others taking these fish… I’m extremely diligent on fish revival… BTW I lump weak and trout together in numbers… technically I also caught shark but wasn’t counting those either…
Think how many more fish you could have landed if time spent fighting and reviving was cut to 8mins.
