10/4 surf report

Fished the point last Sat. and had a very successful bait catching mission. I had a ton of finger mullet that I had caught and frozen after a trip Huntington beach and it definitely seemed to be the bait of choice for the day. I basically had two rigs out the whole time one with 8/0 circle hooks and mullet halves, and the other with 1/0 circles and scaled mullet filets (for the gourmet fish).

My wife and I arrived at the point around 7:30 and we could see that the tide was ripping pretty good and there were some gulls working bait on the surface. Definitely a good sign. Not long after I got the rigs out the large spinning outfit starts to bounce. I reel it in and find a ladyfish double header. One of them was a good size around two feet in length. I was excited because it was a new species for me and I know they make great shark bait. We go on to catch 4 more ladyfish, a snapper blue and one tailor sized blue that put up a nice fight. My wife also caught a whiting that was so big I thought it was a puppy drum until she got it out of the water. I also caught a nice bite sized (if you’re a tiger shark) stingray that is definitely going out on my new 900h next summer.

The weekend couldn’t have been better, the fish were agreeable and the weather was perfect.

Before you criticize someone you should try walking a mile in their shoes. Then when you criticize them you’ll be a mile away and you’ll have their shoes.

Nice report. Ready for the big bull reds to start eating!
