I heard they fought it for 2 hours and it died and then they just reeled up dead weight. So for that they didnt just dry the fish out. It died from the fight.

“You are the offspring of 5 monkeys having But Secs with a retarded fish squirrel………. CONGRADULATIONS”!!!

what a beast. but dont even try to tell me that yo wouldnt kill that fish if that much money was on th line.

Murrells Inlet, SC

That fish should do no harm to Capt. Paul and his boat building business.

whatever the point is that they should not try to kill for gawkers anymore. especially if you are eurofag beergut due with shorts to small and dont realize that you look like such a fool

fish is almost as big as the belly on the blonde dude…

He built the boats that finished first through third in the tournament:

  1. Mimi
  2. Ohana
  3. Bi-Op-Sea

well obviously that big fish died before they got it to the boat and instead of releasing a dead fish they went and collected there money for and probably will end up mounting it i hope. Sure the marlin are slowly declining but there are better ways of helping the population then sitting behind a computer and putting someone down for catching a state record and bringing it in. Sorry but I know i would have brought it back instead of letting the sharks nibble on it.

Our biggest concern should be the conservation of menhadden. There population are slowly declining also and soon i won’t be able to fill livewell with one cast anymore. I think we should put a limit on menhadden.

Funny how all the sporties get worked up about a marlin drying on the dock…

If they really cared about the well being of marlin they would not target them in the first place…targeting them kills them…this fish died because they targeted it…even if they planned on releasing it, it died during the fight and I would argue that many catch and release marlin meet a similar fate, they just don’t get dried out on the dock…(and don’t think that because you see a little tail wiggle when you release her that she necessarily makes it…)

Not saying that targeting them is bad, I could care less…I just find it very hypocritical that “sportsman minded conservationists” get so upset about drying one out when they essentially do the same thing by targeting them at all.

who really cares… i for one would have killed one that weighed over 400lbs regardless. its a tournament for pete sakes. hell i think we need and oct sailfish on the dock tournament in chas. 3 gaff shots, i bet it was really dead when they got it to the bote. anyhow kill’em

Kudos to Plate Charge. Hipocrisy is the root of most problems in this world. Personally, I have caught fairly decent size game fish (not a Marlin) and I don’t see the glory in catching something this big. It looks more fun than pulling up 30 lb Amberjack from a couple of hundred feet but not much more. Why target something that has a critical population in an area, especially if you can’t do anything with it (Although I have had Smoked Marlin once and it was pretty good but probably did not come from a +1000 lber). If it is for the money then why don’t you just not fish and save on the fuel cost. If it for the glory why don’t you put your man skills to the test and go fishing in the back country of Alaska, ALONE!

i have gone fishing in the back countries of north charleston and i have heard it is very similiar to alaska but you just have to be careful of the random gun shots and drunken bums.

I feel the same about marlin why is everyone so bent out of shape about catching a big marlin. if the population was declining that bad then maybe CCA should step up and try to limit the fishing by not having marlin tourneys. But guess what people make to much money off these tourneys to stop them so money rules everything even the population of marlin

North Charleston much more scary than Alaska back country.

Thats the second grander Spencer has dried out this year. Him and his son caught a giant black in Australia, maybe 2 years ago, but still the man can find some fish

man chum why so hard on the boys? must be a yankee!

My bad. I assumed they(Giant Marlin) were a declining population. If it is stable then Fish On! Also, sorry about the typo (hypocrisy)in previous post.

They are definitly a declining population and I personally no matter how much cash was on the line would ever dry out a billfish. I was simply stating he has been on some fish lately. I think tournaments should go all release. Clearly someone fishing on a 3.5 mil$ spencer can get his rocks off by winning its not about the money

then what is it about? remember we live in america and everything is about the money even at the cost of all of our soldiers, wetlands, fishing grounds, and even protected woodlands. so don’t ever think just cause someone already has money that he does not want more

robkelly - not much more fun than pulling a spaghetti jack up from a couple hundred feet… that’s classic. i bet you haven’t driven a ferrari, but trust me, its not too different than that moped your “uncle” lets you tool around on. and that smoking hot chick - she’s about as much fun as the beached whale that you hop up on…

abernabbers comparing grander blue marlin to reef donkeys… the cf.com allstars have some new competition
