1228# Blue Marlin Weighed in at Pirate's Cove

Isn’t toro sushi bluefin?

That is an amazing fish, and check:slightly_smiling_face:

Greg,

What type of dcoumentation would you like, as I have eaten bluefin in more than one restaurant?Skinee is on to something there!

well maybe in charleston you do not see a lot of bluefin or other fish but they are also not harvested for commercial fishing. i have eaten eel, bluefin, blackfin (pretty crazy) and redfish in a restraunt which surprised me. if a fish is edible i am sure some restraunt will cook it.

From reds to marlin you got it.

Skinnee…Torro is from a Blufin’s belly.

Posiden seafood processed a 300+ lb bluefin last week, and it was subsequently divided up to many local accounts. I know this because I was privileged enough to get a few nice chunks of torro from this fish. There is a market on almost any fish that swims.

True, even the Snakehead Fish has a market!!

Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught!

War Eagle!

People like myself and many others are very concerned with the depletion of Menhaden. The article below is a very good read on menhaden and the history of them.

Skinnee toro is the fatty meat on a bluefins belly the other meat is much mo betta

I’d rather kill a grander than kill a little pup dragged on a boat for a pic. If one of you guys complaining ever got to see a grander up close at the back of the transom, you’d crap yourself in the process. Leave the guys alone. Congrats to Capt. Mike and crew. You boys get off your high horse and be realistic.

Captain John, Your response is as ignorant as it gets. How many granders have you seen at the back of your transom? Huhhhh? Duhhhh? Why do you think a large fish would make someone soil themself? Talk about being realistic? You talk like you see granders all the time and fail to address the legitmate conservation concern. You make a joke out of yourself. Look in the mirror and come up with a real assessment of yourself “granderking captain john.” I look forward to your educated and well thought response to my queries raised above!!! Grow up

Oh and just so you dont give this response I will give it for you:

Ive seen many more marlin than you have, and have had several to many close to a thousand pounds leadered at the transom before they got off, spit hook, broke leader, etc… but havent landed them.

Yeah right granderking! get realistic

Nice response chumking. I totally agree. but in all honesty how many people actually see more then a handful of granders in their life? the biggest one i have ever seen in my life was an 800lber at mega dock i think.

Actually, I’ve been lucky enough to wire 2 granders in my life. One we killed and weighed in 1,198. That was on the GBR in 1997. I was on the “Voodoo” as a second mate. The other was estimated near the same size and was released. I’ve caught plenty of big fish as a capt. and mate over the years. Most of my fish were caught off of Hawaii and GBR. But anyway, I made my reply as I said for a reason. I used to sit in tackle shops and listen to guys say how bad they wanted a big marlin and what they would do when the time came. Some of those same guys froze when the time came to perform. If any of you guys were in this tournament, you mean to tell me you would have released this fish and not gotten your check? Guys drag a fish on the boat for pics all the time and don’t think that that doesn’t kill some also. Either way, I’m tired of guys being hypocrits when it comes to fishing. Just congratulate the guys who caught it and go on your way. If not, write your congressman and get the laws changed.
I also never said I was a Granderking or anything like that. I’ve been really lucky over the years and I don’t have anything to prove to anyone.
