I could say a whole lot of things here, but I won’t. I honestly hope Tanner made the right choice. It seems like it was a knee jerk reaction to not being able to get one of the top names out there, but I’m not in a position to make that call. I do have a ton of respect for Ray Tanner, and I hope that the gamecocks can be relevant and not be 3-8 every year when we get to play one another. It makes it a whole lot more fun.

He panicked at the end. He had a headache get head start on most of the other vacancies and was the last one to get a coach. You got someone nobody else wanted and may have done auburn a favor by taking him. Tanker should hav had his list of potential coaches together before the end of LAST season. It seems he did not… Will recruited well at Florida where anyone could recruit well and not have to leave the state.
We’ll see how it turns out but I would not be happy with this hire process or result if I were a coot fan.

Yeah, Auburn got bowl eligible right there at the end of the season. He only had 5 start talent to work with this year. Y’all should be fine with no star talent to work with.

High level football coaching is the weirdest gig out there. You can be absolutely terrible at your job, get fired publicly, and then get picked back up for another $3M/yr. Muschamp took a dumpster of a program at FL, and then lit it on fire. Full blown dumpster fire.

Not sure I am following your comments. The talent there especially on the defense has allowed McIlwain to do what he did. If Grier had not made the boneheaded move he made this team would have really been dangerous. If you watched them play at all this year, you could see that defense was loaded with incredible speed and talent. All Muschamp recruits and far from a “dumpster fire” I am not saying he is the next savior, but I am going to give him a chance before I start judging this hire. He has already made the team better sending all but Shawn Elliott out the door and he has already done more recruiting in two days than was done most of last year. I am sure they will lose a couple that were attached to those coaches, but if he does not get better talent in there it will not be from lack of effort. As far as the Auburn comments I keep hearing. Ellis Johnson was a pretty good DC, could not get it done and alluded to some issues there. Muschamp comes in and brings them some pretty good recruits in the process and cannot get it done in one season so all of a sudden now he does not know how to coach defense? Sound like bitter Auburn fans and issues other than just the DC. Like I said I will wait and see what the guy can do before I criticize Tanner.

Didn’t a 4 star do a decootment when he was announced? Going to be a helluva selling job by the staff when recruits look at the record and abysmal offenses he had at UF.
I know some of you are trying to put a brave big boy face on it but, this was a horrible hire.

No. He decomitted when he heard Whammy was gone. I guess Whammy was his guy. There are already some others that are now considering coming because of this hire. No big boy face here, just not judging it in a knee jerk way like many are. I think some of you would criticize regardless of who they hired and I get that, I would expect nothing less. It may turn out to be a terrible hire, I am just not ready to go there yet.
Wouldn’t have criticized it one bit had it been Rich Rod, Lincoln Riley, Fuente, Herman or some other up and comer. Moosechump or Kiffin would and should draw sharp criticism. Listening to the sports talk shows today on Sirius, these guys are all talking about how bad a hire it is. One even said Clemson won twice on Saturday with this hire.

The guys I heard on Sports radio were basically saying Dabo was an abusive head coach because of how he treated his kicker. Should I believe that too? Of course not. I will let time tell me what to believe, you continue to believe the talking heads.
