Looking to add a small center console to the family. I have been looking at Pioneer and sportsman and Scout but scout may be too pricey. Does anybody have any input on a good budget boat that’s great quality for the price.
Add seahunt and nautic star to the list. I wouldn’t look past and older grady white, if you find one in your budget.
deep vee or bay boat?

I’ve been shopping Pioneers lately and I’m VERY impressed. The Pioneers are well-built boats with a tremendous ride and ridiculous attention to detail. The “180” size in the Islander or Sportfish models are going to be in the upper $20k’s to mid $30k’s range. The “202” size will be in the mid $40k’s to the low $50k’s range. Good luck finding a used one for sale though. My personal favorite so far is their 220 Bay Sport model. That’s a $50k-$60 boat.

Deep v most likely mainly because feel safer with children on board because of the cockpit depth
Check this out before you buy. You can add a fleet of boats to the family for less than buying 1 and have use of boats nationwide. I’m taking a bay boat out tomorrow in Tampa Bay and took a Cobia 220CC out of New Smyrna Beach last week. We’re going to Panama City Beach at the end of the month and Have a Hurricane deck boat reserved there. It may not be for everyone but it works great for us. All we do is pay our $306 dues a month and pay for the fuel we use.

Head over to Rogue Motion and check out the lineup of Blue Wave Boats. They have a great 20’SL. One of the best riding and performing bay boats you will set foot on.

$306/month will buy a pretty decent boat right? If you aren’t traveling around a lot at least.

What’s your budget? Have you looked at my Pioneer 222SF? It’s ready to roll right now.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Key West
Found a nice key west 1720 at a fair price. Anyone know what compression should be on a 90hp Yamaha 2 stroke for when I go look?
90-100 between all cylinders
make sure and test run the motor on the water, not in the driveway.

Are you off the floor yet from sticker shock?
Key West is the Chevrolet of the boat world, it’s what I have now. Scout is way over-priced and just not a good riding boat. Sea Pro is making a comeback. Pioneer are good boats but pricey. Sea Hunt stopped making the size your looking for but I really liked my 196. Really depends on how you use it and how much you want to pay. Used boats outside this area are much cheaper. I’ve had five Carolina Skiffs and really enjoy the utility of the boats. If you have small kids, dogs or elderly folks, gunnel height is important

Yamaha 90 two stroke is a excellent engine, for flats boats, some jon boats but for a family cruiser/ casual fishing boat, I think a four stroke is a better option. Your family will thank you in the long run
