1st Annual Redfishville Shootout for HOW

OK Folks… here we go… 17 October there is a great AM high, a 6.0 at the ville… Gonna have a kayak fishing tournement to support Heroes on the Water (HOW) ( PLEASE SEE PAGE TWO FOR MORE INFOR ON THE TOURNEY AND HOW). Catergories are: (Biggest = longest)

Conventional Fishing:
Biggest Red
Biggest trout

Fly Fishing:
Biggest Red
Biggest Trout

Either: Largest Trash Fish Slam (Ladyfish, Stingray, Baby Shark) The most inches of all three fish wins…

I have 1st and 2nd place prizes squared away and we should tve the 3rd place readty before the tourney Anyone out there who would like to donate prizes let me know and we may be able to have more catergories…

This will be a CPR Tourney. A photo of your kayak rigged and ready to go at first light needs to be the first shot on your camera and all fish must be photographed on a ruler showing total length with the event identifier to be handed out Friday the 16th at the Captians meeting or first thing Saturday AM before fishing begins. You need to provide a cable to get images from your camera. This is a very simple easy tourney… Fish, take a pic of your fish and see who catches the biggest…

I would like to ask for $20 from each angler to go towards future events for Injured War Vets fishing with us for Heroes on the Water Events. The $$ raised will go towards buying rods, reels, line, tackle, etc. So far I have been able to secure some PFD’s for HOW… Not getting a lot of love in the donation departments from the industry… My #1 goal is to get our Heroes on the Water fishing and doing it comfortably. But I need help.

Anyone is welcome to fish. The more the merrier. I will post up more details soon but I wanted to get it out as soon as I could tso we can clear schedules… If you have any suggestions or questions PM me here or e-mail me at

Do you need help promoting this at KBF or GKF?

Nikonjedi. I am not sure what is wrong with my email, but this is now the third or fourth time someone has told me that they sent something and my email is empty. I even tried emailing myself through CharlestonFishing, but once again nothing showed up. Anyways, if you could please resend the email using another method or just send a pm that would be awesome. thanks

I am planning on being there too. October is going to be a busy month for me fishing wise… All depends on the funds…

Three tourneys, plus gasoline and camping costs… I should be able to swing it…but…

You going to enter the PuoSu tourney on the 3rd?

Nikon- Sorry we never got back up on wed. I was disapointed it worked out that way. I paddled further down to a bank where i thought i could get bait and figureded you guys would make your way down. I hope we get a chance to do this again. As far as my LUCK… I ended up with 2 reds. I had several follows and blowups on the gulp but only one hookup. I also lost a nice 15-16" flounder right at the boat as was trying to land it in the net. As for the “homemade” outrigger floats, they worked well for the first attempt. I was able to stand with no problems, now i need a push pole.

While I have minimal experience fishing from a kayak, I’ll play for the chance at fishing and helping out veterans at the same time. What are the fees associated? My son might come as well. I’ll ask him.
