Swap Shop Rules:
last year we had a couple of picnic tables where people brought fishing, hunting, outdoor related items that they either wanted to give away, trade or sell for just a few bucks (nobody is getting rich off this thing!)…I’ll bring some envelopes, tape and a sharpie this year…you just bring your stuff to the tables, lay it out and put a piece of tape on each item with your name and what you are asking for it…then put your name on an envelope and put in the box…if somebody finds something of yours they like they put the money in your envelope and take your stuff…gotta work on the honor system here folks…this is a great way to clean some of the clutter out of your garage…who is bringing the fart machine this year?

What do y’all do with the oyster shells post party? I have a driveway that I need some for, and can bring my truck over and haul them off.

typically Paul hauls them off to a shell recycling area…I appreciate the offer to take them, but in my opinion we should just keep this as it is now and let DNR fully recycle them back into the local waters…

I will take a mess like last year and dump them off my dock.

Paul, I saw on the news that most of the oysters down around Beaufort were killed by all of the fresh water from all of the rain over the summer. Will that have any effect on oyster prices this year?

Also, have you ever seen such a big die off, and if so how long did it take them to recover form an event like that?

Thanks.

We seemed to escape the worst of it up here, my prices are holding steady. They will be fully recovered in 3 years.

I have a smoker with a oysterroaster and 2 burner stove if you need to have one. The smoker is good to have at oyster roasts helps keep some of the other cover dishes warm and can always throw other product on to cook.It is a pretty slick lil outfit and can make things easier.
