I can recall many years ago going up to North Woods Mall every January with my father for the Charleston Boat Show. We would head up about mid morning, walk through the mall and check out about a dozen different brands of boats, see a few new products, and visit with some friends and dealers. We would usually be finished by noon, dad would treat us to some lunch and we would head home.
At 33-years old I still enjoy spending the day with my dad walking around the boat show. January 27-29, 2006 marks the 26th year of The Charleston Boat Show and I will be the first to say that the Show has improved drastically since I was a child. Now held at the North Charleston Convention Center, Coliseum, and sprawling out into their associated parking lots, The Charleston Boat Show has grown by 118% in the last 4-years alone. For this year's Show JBM Associates, producer and organizer of the event, has pulled together over 30 dealers from the entire region representing over 80 lines of boats. In addition to the dealers JBM has also brought in 50 plus exhibitors representing a full line of marine and fishing products and services.
This year’s Show is presented by Mercury Marine, sponsors include; GMC, News Channel 2, The Post and Courier, Q104.5, and WEZL FM103.5. The Show is guaranteed to be the best in the 26-year history and fun for the entire family. JBM has organized special events within the show to include a full line of fishing seminars covering topics geared towards inshore fishing, offshore fishing, and fly fishing, as well as events for the children. And remember, prizes, giveaways and discounts abound at this years show so make sure to take part! Show hours are Friday 12-7pm, Saturday 10am-7pm, and Sunday 11am-6pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. For more information please visit, www.TheCharlestonBoatShow.com.
