I took Colby Borland’s Dad, Gary Borland (Pure Fishing) fishing this morning. We were sitting all over fish in three different places. We chummed, drummed, and power reeled, with little reward.
We ended up catching 5 quality fish, e.g. >than 21". We released one over 10 lb’s, but Gary caught his personal best with a 30.5 lb’er.
What a great way to christen my new boat with a 30+
Our fish came in the big pool, between 57’ and 81’. the big fish and the 10 lb’er were on a 57’ hump. We had excellent bait from David Clyburn, we just did not buy enough (2 dozen). After the 30 lb’er and 10 lb’er, we had two baits left:frowning_face:
If you just wanted catching, you could probably catch a 20 fish limit of 16" to 18" fish, in about 30 minutes in 25 to 30 feet of water. We were fishing for Quality, not Quantity!
Nice fish rick…the shear number of 20-30# fish I have seen this summer is crazy. And let’s not talk about the number of teens…it’s Def good days on murray. Let’s hope this trend continues with no kill…

Thanks. How about when you first set up? We generally chum the same way or if we have excessive bait and days ending we use the live ones cut up same way. I am dying reading reports and not going!

We only bought 2 dozen baits, so we did not chum until some of them died. We did not need many to get the fish fired up, the first two times we chummed with only 3 herring.

I have a Simrad Evo 12 with custom chip for Lake Murray that has all the humps and road beds installed on it. I’m just not really sure where to start. I would most likely put in at the dam or Jakes. I’m going to get out there soon.
