Decided to give the cobia an early try. Got to my spot at noon right on a nice rip in the right depth with a load of fat lively mullet, greenies were popping all around the boat, had a really nice chum slick going, water was 68-69 degrees, had one bait on top and one on the bottom…it stunk like a cobia slaying. Stayed until 4:30 and headed for the hill without a single bite all day, didn’t even have to change baits the whole day. It was absolutely flat calm and thank God because I was in the jon-boat since we sold the “big” boat last fall. I think another couple days and the water will hit that magic 70 degree threshold. It was a good day on the water despite the lack of action, the next week or two should get interesting.

Yeah, I was going to try this other place I was told about:wink:, but it was a last minute trip. There were about six other boats out there.
I was there all day with the almost same result.

Saw one Saturday about 2 miles off Edisto under a turtle. Was not rigged for him, so by the time I got ready, he had vanished.
