5-12 Georgetown

Headed out of Georgetown with Gumshoe and F’ing Mike for my second spearfishing trip. The first was some target practice on some spades at the ten mile the afternoon before. I could tell right away that Mike had low expectations because he only brought one bag of ice and a very small cooler. But he was wrong.

We ran out to 85ft to dive some top secret wrecks. Mike and I headed down to find the vis good at around 35ft. So we followed some jacks over to the wreck and the shooting began. Mike shot the first and I shot the next. It was a blast. I think we wound up with 5 on the first dive. Several more were spared due to my poor judge of range. We hit the boat and Chris went down for a quick dive and brought back up a scamp.

We moved inshore for the next dive with about the same results. Gags were moving in and out of the area and Mike and I shot some more. He add some diversity with some sheeps and triggers.

What a great day. Thanks to Mike and Chris for sharing their knowledge with me.

Big Daddy,

Big Daddy,
Looks like you had a good day. Keep up the diving. Stop into the shop and say hello.

You guys scared me at how well you did - newbies or not.

I’m glad to see yet another surface dweller has been officially converted.

> edit - we even had a pleasant meeting with the “man” on our way through the inlet. They were professional and courteous, and should be commended. They’ve got a tough job to do and I appreciate that they’re out there!
