6/13-20

The Skipper and I, with our families, are heading down for our annual family vacation. We are bringing the usual two boats, every fishing rod, hook, and accessory we have with us. I know the economy is bad but this has to be the least amount of information about the fishing situation and who is coming down I have ever seen….or maybe have never seen.

We plan on fishing the surf, creeks, and the wrecks. Do you have any suggestions or advice?

Is anyone else planning on going down next week?

Look us up we won’t be hard to find. We will be sun burnt, drinking (either beer or D. Mt Dew) setting up surf rigs in the pre dawn hours of the morning. Later in the morning we will still be surf fishing and drinking but also trying to keep up with 3 4-6 year olds.

Thanks for your comments.

Not sure what size your boats are, but some friends of mine caught some spades couple of weeks ago. Spanish should start showing up.

You gotta love the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Agentduder,

I hope you get some more information. We will be headed to Edisto the week after you. We will also have 2 boats looking for some fun fishing and frosty adult beverages. So, I wish you luck and hope you will pass along any helpful info. I have been to Edisto several times, but never really had any good luck. Except for flounder at Jeremy inlet( slow rolling finger mullet 2hrs b4 low and 2hrs after low) and bonnetheads in the South Edisto. I went to the Edisto nearshore and caught a few small sea bass, along with something I could not turn. Good luck. I hope you have a great time at Edisto.

Please… help us newbies we would like to catch enough for a small fish fry while we’re down there. Are the menhaden around anywhere? I have had luck catching flounder at Jeremy but, I would like to find them while out in the boat. What type of area do I need to look for? Also I would enjoy taking someone out to learn some new techniques. I only have a couple of rods but, the gas and frosty adult beverages will be on me. I will be down starting the 6/20 until 6/27.

Thanks to all.

That Gulp bait will bring those spots running from miles around in the creeks. Capt. Bob can attest to that.

i would like to share some honey holes but Jeremy Inlet used to be a great spot and look what happened to it, haha im just messin but the fishin has been nuthin there compared to how it used to be, but if you’ve got a boat definately give the spanish a shot off the beachfront, drive around in the mornin and the schools of spanish and blues will be clearly visible usually, and in the creeks, well those spots im a little less like to share…

Not many people are going to give up there honey holes on a public forum. If they do, they get fished out. I’ve gone to Edisto my entire life and spent hundreds of hours looking for fish. It takes time and patience. Once you understand the general pattern of what the fish you are trying to catch are doing, it makes it a little easier to catch them. Try creek inlets, oyster banks, mudflats. Gotta hit it during the right tides. Ask yourself “where is the bait”. You find bait, you will normally find fish. It takes a little trial and error, but there are fish there.

Thanks for the comments.

I wasnt looking for anybody’s honey hole I was looking more for a fishing report. I know how it is when you have a good place then one day there isnt room for you to fish in your own hole. It had just seemed to me there wasnt one fourth of the people posting as there was last year. In years past everyone was telling when they were going and what their plan was I was just trying to keep up the tradition…plus I have made some friends along the way.

Any way we have two more days and I ready now…

thanks again…

Good luck and have a great trip. I haven’t been yet this summer, I’m going in a couple weeks, so I don’t have a recent report. Like I said, fish creek mouths during a moving tide, especially ones with oyter banks and grass on them. Mud minnows and artificials work well for trout and spottails.

I will be down the last part of the week to look for some shallow fishing post a message and tell us how you do

I will be checking the post while Im there , and I will put in some updates.

thanks

We will have to compare notes. Hope to finds some more fish this weekend going to try to fish Sunday after noon good luck.

Redboat,

We will fish everyday we are there so comparing notes would be great…My boat will be at the marina, and Skipper has a 22 or 24’? carolina skiff. when we are not in the boats you can be sure we are fishing in the surf somewhere…

Edisto veterans,

Thanks for your input…and like Agentduder, I don’t expect you to give up your honey holes, I know they are sacred. I will try to use the information you have given and hopefully find some fish. I will try to post replies while I am down there, not sure of internet capabilities at the house. Again thanks to you all.

Agentduder,

Good luck, I will be looking forward to your posts.
