6/15 Sullivans

Thinking about heading out early to the north end around station 30. I’ve never had much luck down south. Moved here from Topsail Beach 2 years ago and have been a bit less than impressed with the surf fishing here. Seems like a lot more sharks and a lot less fish due to the dirty water. If anyone wants to chat it up while the bait soaks tomorrow, let me know.

I’ll be out on the boat tomorrow but I’ve got some advice for you that might help. Squid in the surf is a sure fire way to catch lots of small sharks, that’s my experience. Live mullet on fishfinder rigs has given me the best luck with large quality fish. Also, frozen shrimp fished in the surf zone always works for whiting and pompano. Small hooks are key in the surf for whiting and pompano. If mullet are not available to you use the shrimp to catch a whiting and work your way up the food chain. Find a sand bar, fish the back of it with the aforementioned advice and you’ll more than likely have a great day. Hope this helps you. Let me know how you do.

I almost forgot… powerpro! It’s the best line you can use in the surf. You will feel every little tap. Good luck.
