6/23 north folly

Super slow bite from 6 to 930 am. I caught a whiting a stingray and a horseshoe crab. The horseshoe crab was a feisty one and kept flipping over and trying to spine me. When i released it, it turned around and charged me and then scrambled off. I didnt know they could move like that. I had fresh squid from offshore fiahing and a spanish mackeral i caught like a week ago for bait. Probably would of had better action with mullet and shrimp. Tried out some sinker clips that you put your hook on when casting to cast further. They worked decent and added a good 30ft to my cast.

Show those horseshoe crabs who’s boss 40:smiley: Good to get out. Some day’s we get um and sometimes we don’t. Just part of fishing. I agree that the closer the weight is to the hook it does improve on the distance on casting substantially. I switched to a super short leader 4-6 inches 60lb mono that is fixed with a weight and have seen 0 problems with doing so, for my fish rigs. No bite offs or rub offs from fish. The other positive is it has eliminated gut hooking 100% for me thus far. A remarkable difference that will help me look after those reds I target. Any day we learn something new, is a great day in my book. Take care.
