Wow, nice fish. Do you just drop them back down in the net to release them.
Any comments on what you think this little cool front will do on the fish activity?
yes.I would like to give thanks to Haddrell’s Point West Ashley for the awesome service and equipment to bring these bad boys in.
Headed out there soon. Hope somebody comes to help me net!

Since I fish from a boat most of the time, I have a couple of questions. First, congrats on your catch. Catching hogs like that is quite an accomplishment. How do you land them on the pier? Do you use a net or a flying gaff or what? And how do you safely release them? Those guys that size are pretty sturdy and I have released plenty of them myself and so has my wife, whose name is, coincidently, Toni. Again, very nice catch and I personally love fishing on Folly. Good going guys…and gals! The photos were beautiful.

There are nets on the pier that we bring them up in. They are 37" across and so far, all fish have fit… We try to get them off the hooks and take pictures as fast as possible. They are then lowered back into the water. We keep them in the net and move them around until we feel they are strong enough to swim on their own- usually they give a good flip of the tail and try to swim out of the net. We then lower the net deeper in the water and watch them swim away. It is very important to keep them in the net until they are upright and swimming. I have released about 25 or so and haven’t lost one yet.
