7-28-13 Ripple Effect Freeman 33

The last time I went fishing was in Venice, LA on the 40ft Freeman that Bully built a few years ago.

That was last fall, so I listened to Scoutin4Goodies when he told me MiniS4G needed to apprentice under a jedi grouper catcher Sunday. I have had too much going on to be able to go fishing offshore, and it’s been a shame.

So I left Garden City at 4:30 or so and went by my house in Summerville to pick up a few rods for the S4G boys to use as well as some apparel.

I got to the dock 30 minutes late. This was where Bully’s new Freeman 33 was. What a good looking color scheme- battleship colors.

When I walked up, everyone was on the boat watching me walk up like I was a short green creature with a cypress cane and big pointy ears. Kind of like, “this guy is worth waiting on??? really???”

Whatever

MiniS4G, for one, did not care I was late. He loves being on a boat.

So I anxiously noted that the storm I had driven through before sunrise was joining up with one to the South, and we were about to see some lightning and rain. Had to do what I could to make up for it, so when Bully pulled up on the bait, I hit them with the super pro and Guzman and Michael were able to get them in the floor well and let us run into the washing machine slop and get ahead of the growing storms forming over the beach line. I was winning a few crew members over by then since sometimes (from what I hear) it might take an hour (or two) to get enough bait in the boat.

The rain still got us though.

Let me say that MiniS4G is 4 years old, and as we ran through the rain he did not make a peep in protest. He looked around at me and BrianH smiling at how the boat wasn’t sweating the storm, and he held onto S4G’s while Min

Awesome day!

Thanks so much Bully for letting me bring the little guy. He has spent LOTS of time in all sorts of boats in his 4 year career but this was his very first full day BIG boy fishing trip. He was great!

Thanks crew for being accommodating to him as well.

Great day on the water! Most boats would be quite crowded with 6 adults and 2 kids but that 33 FREEMAN is a fishing MACHINE!

Uncle Phin posing with a shark! He loved catching the sharks!

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

great post Wes! Always look forward to reading about your trips. Appears the minis had a blast

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Nice report, Wes. Glad to see fishing.

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

Very Cool!!! So glad to see the next generation getting it done. Maybe Billy could patent a gunnel fighting car seat for the little ones! He looked like a pro! Thanks for sharing such a great trip

A well deserved break for you. Thanks for the report and fun read.

Nice report. It makes me wanna puke that you had to toss that ARS back. Oh well, after eating a bunch we caught in the gulf, I have determined almost everything else in those pics is better groceries, although Atlantic ARS taste better than Gulf ARS. Nice grouper haul. I’m hoping to get on some over the weekend.
