Wife took the kids to the south end folly park and walked around the point to the river side of the island this AM. From what I’m told the whiting were biting well on the incoming tide along with one small redfish a couple broken off mystery fish, a cut line by a shark and then disaster. Some “giant” fish gave our best surf rod a ghost ride to Davey Jones locker. Pulled the rod holder over before wife could get to it. They tried a couple hours to fish it out with no luck and they are all broken up over it. I figure it’s right there in the trough at the foot of the river bank but I won’t be able to get down there to try and snag it this evening. Anyway there’s a case of beer in it for any kind soul that might happens on to it. (White ugly stick (great white I think) saltwater spinning rod with a Blue Cabelas reel)
Whatever the odds of return I don’t know but at least I can tell the kids I tried and the miracles from this website never cease to amaze:smiley:.
Thanks and tight lines!
Caught this at that same spot 7 Ft Lemon Shark. Fished that spot alot of years!
Nice Lemon!! What were you using for bait? How far out was your bait?
Tarpoon swing by the house one day. I can probably help you out.

Nice shark FF. Wife says that’s it’s that’s what took the pole!
I say no, the kids got distracted and y’all let the tide come up on the rod holder… that’s what took your pole.
Anyway, the Captain always get credit so has to accept the blame and that’s me so…
THanks for the post and pic! Kids got a kick out of it.

Thanks, will do I need all the help I can get!
Actually we found a smaller reel in the surf in Florida a couple weeks back. I’ve nearly restored it to usability. I think with a trip to Hadrell’s it might be ok. I think it just needs a gear to fix the reason some knuckle head threw it in the river.
Oh Yeah,
Special thanks to Emily!!! at the county pier/ park who actually called my wife back to follow up on the lost reel and offered to keep an eye out.
She was caught on cut Bonita. Penn 8500SS 65# test, 12 ft Ugly Stick. Not a very long cast. Tide was ripping had to use a 6 oz Sputnik which killed my distance.
