Thanks for all of the support and positive posts. I know it’s a matter of will power and this time I’m determined to win!

Boatpoor, I can’t chew gum. Haven’t been able to since I got dentures. Every time I try a stick of that supposedly “denture friendly” gum, it sticks everywhere. More trouble than it’s worth.

The worst cravings should go away after about 21 days. I’d ease up on the Chantix ASAP. I’ve been nicotine-free (I smoked AND dipped) for 15 years now. It is so nice to be rid of that nasty habit.

Curious, why do you say that? I’ve been taking it for about 2 weeks now.

Have you had any strange wild very realistic and physical dreams? I’ve read stories where people have literally fought in bed while sleeping. Sleep punching kicking and cursing have been some of the main side effects of the Chantix. Not for all, but for a lot…

I’ve had some crazy, bizarre dreams, but nothing physical or violent. I will wake up sometimes & ask myself “Where in the heck did that come from?”

Ya Bob I know about the dentures! Insted of replacing my twin outboards I opted for tooth implants, great investment! Hope I live long enough to make them worthwild.

Bob, I had heard that lots of people had problems with depression when using Chantix. When you asked “why?”, I looked into it a bit further. Many believe, and it sounds logical, that depression symptoms are also reported by people experiencing nicotine withdrawal that DON’T take Chantix. I spoke without really knowing what I was talking about.

My wife beat the crap out of me at night while taking Chantix. I had to make her quit taking it. My son couldn’t take it either after horrible nightmares and sleep walking.

Been wondering why my wife has been trying to get me to use the patches and viagra together… Hell, I don’t even smoke… But makes sense now. She is a freak…

Oh, pretty good. Just been swallowing viagra, drinking moonshine, now waking up with the patch on lately, watching reruns of the hurricane gangsta sign language dude, and on page 32 of the End Times thread re-read…

Oh yeah, also working on customizing a tube so I can take my basset hound tubing behind a boat this summer…

How about you? Doing OK?

So far it’s just been some bizarre dreams. Nothing violent, just weird. Today was one of my worst days for wanting to smoke. Out in the shop working on a side job & having a couple of cold ones. I kept reaching to my pocket where my smokes used to be.

I can’t tell you how many times I pulled up to a red light and reached for my cigs in my left pocket. Hell, I still carry a lighter just so there’s is something in that pocket…LOL It’s all about retraining your brain man. Sounds like you got a great start going, keep it up!! You got this!

Quitting Cigarettes is the easiest thing in the world to do. Staying quit is the hard part!! Sounds like you have the hard part mastered, just keep fighting the urge. It gets easier and easier every day!!

I carried a golf tee everywhere I went. Every time I would reach for my smokes or had an urge I would just pretend the tee was a cigarette. I probably chewed the white off the first 10 tees within a week. It was been 6 years since I had my last cigarette.
