The setup was perfect, but you blew it. That high altitude has you thinking all wrong.

I think we need to leave this one up to Simon, Paula and Randy...

The correct answer was

Borrow that pink shirt from F&G and go trolling on the east side.:imp:

So much water, So little time

I took the forecast(s) fully into consideration yesterday. There was no question whether I’d go or not until we were down to two people and already light before we even got into the ocean. I like to be fishing by then this time of year, and I knew we were not going to make quick time to the first spot yesterday. I have taken my 17’ in worst conditions than yesterday. To be honest, I really don’t understand what the big deal is except for it not being comfortable on a smaller boat with 4 people instead of 2 or maybe 3 instead. I ran into a head sea when it was blowing 10-15kts yesterday morning, and I came in with a following sea. In between those two, I ran in the trough a little and quartered a little, and I could run that pioneer at 30kts+ when I wanted. Coming in was 25-30kts as well with the following sea. And anchored up? I have been rocked and jarred much worse simply riding on a catamaran, so … ??? I fully back all the praise I’ve given to Pioneer and their strength and design. It would not have been fun in most other boats that size, but yesterday was not anything to be concerned about for me. It was actually a pretty laid back trip. If it had been flat calm, we would have burnt more gas and went further is all.

Stress, you need to get back on the horse. I have been on boats in the ocean from an early age when I thought we’d run out of gas or the batteries died or engine went out, etc. I’ve also been caught in all sorts of bad weather when it happens. It doesn’t prevent me from going on less than perfect days though. There are only a couple of days like that per year, and if we all waited on them we couldn’t get out there.

Had a good day on the water ride was a litle rough on the way out but not bad at all once we got out there. We had a few people in the business of selling cars and boats punk out but thats alright  Must have been an off day for transportation  Here are the pics from the day…

Hmmm... I wasn't targeting you on that, but since you want to go there, let's put some mo

skin E,
I did not say a 197 pioneer could outrun a 26GB. Yesterday would have not even phased your boat. The first time I went out on your bote was worse than yesterday. Let’s do a test with people comparing a 26GB’s stability to a 19’ monohull while anchored in 2-3ft seas and see what happens though.

Luke 8:22-25

A couple of friends and I went to the 226 yesterday in my boat and it wasn’t that bad. Sure, my boat is not as comfortable in those conditions as they would be in a bigger boat, but we had a great time and the boat handled fine. You have to know what your boat can handle and be smart.

Y’all might have been the closest boat to us. We didn’t see any other boats the entire day besides 2 container ships!

No cornholers to worry about!

" punk out" ???

Yea, I was afraid I would get sick. I should have known that if you two were going…It would have been ok. I’m sorry for being scared.

nice duck tape!

There is going to be a nice piece of weather off of La. next week, why don’t you and Phineaus trailer down and go snapper fishing, after all it is a Pioneer…

Sure.

Again, I am not trying to start a pissing match and this was targeted towards whistlindixies “as long as you are comfortable, go for it” (paraphrased) comment. My point was that there are a lot of new boaters on this forum and there is a lot more to it than your personal comfort level, especially when dealing with smaller boats. It was just a public service message if you will…

There are many that push their boats pretty hard and just don’t understand why it is constantly breaking down or screws are falling out, or have stress cracks, etc.

Don’t hate on my duct tape… it’s going to get me laid when I tell about the vicious shark attack I had to fend off :sunglasses: And when I said “punk out” I was just kidding! I understand that rough water can be hell on those arthritis flare ups

Thats slick water. Try this!

Sixty five miles offshore going back in head seas in a twenty four footer. Worst beat down ive ever had for that long of a ride. And some of the best fishing. I know I know no sailfish out of water. This pic was taken at the north pole fishing with santa clause so its ok.

I really feel bad now that I backed out at the landing. phin let you get bit by a shark, and neither one of you could manage a grouper or snapper. hell yall couldn’t even catch a shorty.

next time I will just have to suck it up so you can get some reel fish in the box.

What skinneeJ is talking about up there is people like me who have beat their 17 footers apart because they have wanted to go fishing too badly at some times. :stuck_out_tongue:

He is also right about there being more to it than comfort level. Some people hand out mouthgaurds at the dock and then run their stuff painfully hard all day from what I understand. Livewell pumps break off of seacocks and stuff like that. Hull to deck joints separating is also a good one. Didn’t a glacier bay sink down in the keys from that last year? :face_with_head_bandage:

Luke 8:22-25

So what we need to do is sell all these glacier bays, contenders, and scouts, and buy 19 foot pioneers then we will save 150 dollars in gas, and we will have a more comfortable ride, and the boat will hold up better! sweet!
