And I thought fishing 101 was post a fishing report… I’ll make sure my first priority is to keep all the super secret spots safe from weekend warriors surfing the Web… cough grillage reds cough shady grady kings cough more bliners at commanche
It’s a year long competition to some people. It is supposed to be about having fun catching fish and helping others catch fish. I’m not saying everytime have good luck at a spot cry wolf to every boat out there, but it is only human to want give advice and help others experience the good(or bad) fishing you had in a certain spot. I guess some people just think are above being human and will continue fishing as if in a never ending tournament with the rest of the population…
This does not include charters/commercial. It’s your living to catch fish, just remember the weekend warrior who may have fished same area as you tho has different priorities
I have said what should have been said. If I hurt anyone’s feelings, I apologize. I have enrolled myself in sensitivity training to try to be more aware of how what I say to grown men on the internet can really upset them. Please don’t lose any sleep over the cruel comments that I have bestowed upon you. My therapist says that in just a few years, I will have more friends…
I am just glad we have someone like you around - someone to remind us of their own personal rules of the internet, fishing and the ocean. We need to be reminded that this is the world of skineej and we all live in it…
Really Skin, why not have this site setup so all new posts have to go thru you for approval - to ensure they meet all of the B.S. rules you have made up all by yourself… would that keep you satisfied??
I’m the new guy on here. Actually, gatoraid was fishing with me. I don’t mind sharing a little information with fellow fishermen. After all, an offshore trip is a little costly and it’s good to have some guidance on what and where to increase your odds. I’ve got plenty of bottom fishing experience but I do lack on trolling (rigs, speeds, etc), so I will be looking to this site for advise.

You're welcome... Now if you don't mind posting your numbers, people could use a little fishing help around here. The Y-73 is going to be a bit crowded this weekend.

I'm still waiting for your bottom numbers. Are you going to help your fellow fishermen or not? Let's not be greedy. It's a big ocean and if you post your entire book of numbers, we will all promise to spread out and not over-fish them.

https://www.dnr.sc.gov/reefguide/artificial_reef?p_location=Central[:0][:0] Looks like Y-73 is on there. [:0][:0] Guess I just ruined it for everyone. Don’t twist this into a post every number in your gps argument. He stated a WELL known public reef that gets pounded all the time. Well more than any live bottom numbers. If he was putting up some numbers that wasn’t a public reef we wouldn’t be having the conversation. I would hope he would at least say the depth he was fishing in though. The point is the guy put up a decent report and you wanted to smack him down for sayin it was at a public reef. I’ll wait on your response to whats the point in a report.
BTW, thanks for the report. Don’t stop because one guy is worried your gonna cause mass hysteria at a public reef.
Well, gatoraid gave a bit more information than I wish he had, at least on an open forum. Sharing with a few select people can be a benefit to all involved. I did find some nice looking live bottom that day which I did not fish because a storm was heading my way. I will hit it on my next trip out. I hear some folks on this site make trips off together sometimes. Not a bad idea for safety when your 30 miles out in the ocean.
Okay, so you are allowed to twist this into a post about me “not helping fishermen” and being “anti-report”, but I am not allowed to twist this into a post about your sharing your exact locations? Who seems to be writing the rule book now? Can you give me a copy? Mine must be out of date.
I never said anything about not posting reports. I post them as well.
But honestly, if you don’t think people are going to target a specific reef when you tell them it’s crawling with b-liners and cobia, then there is nothing I can say to change your mind. Because we all know when people say, “Hey, I caught 15 people at the GT Hole”, there won’t be 100 boats out there on the next Saturday. Good thing that spot is not public. Or when people say, “Caught some nice cobia at the Broad River”, that won’t cause a mass movement of Yeti coolers and Natural light towards Beaufort. Or when people say, “So many ducks at Willtown Bluff last weekend”, it won’t be crawling with Camoflauge Clemson stickers the next Saturday.
I talk about “spots” all the time with people who I know personally. We communicate with a small device called a “phone”. I just don’t give exact locations on the WWW to millions of people who I have never met or seen. The funny thing is, you guys will be the first ones *****ing about people fishing too close to you the following week.
But, it’s nice to know that you don’t want to give up spots. So, you must value “secrecy” to some extent. But, what about the guys who ONLY have the DNR numbers and spent the last month trying to find the b-liners and cobia? They put in their time and effort and finally found pay dirt. And now, someone completely blows it for them. Do you not care to help those guys?

Agree to disagree, whatever. Most importantly maybe
I didn’t know if that’s what happened when you caught somebody on your numbers or what. How about a heads up before you head to the hole. I’ll fish south, don’t wanna end up in anybodys fish box…
Yeah, I got that Y-73 is in 95 feet. What I was saying is if he wasn’t on an artificial reef. Something like I was fishing live bottom in 100 ft of water.
