I was right there, but can’t remember what creek I was in …can you remind me? Oh da Floundas…Mmmmmm!

man, congrat on both night, any pics? i’m also getting ready to do some gigging myself. got any tips for the newbie? such as what area/ equipment

Saltwater i lived in savannah years back and i would recommend trying there if you dont mind the drive.Thunderbolt ga. downtown savannah there was seafood store, landing there which is wilmington river,Lazzereta creek landing at tybee isl.Because lately ive had lot of company where i prefer to gig so im going to try now that its too late to keep it a secret.Lots of opinions on eqip,and boat rigs,I use 1000 yamaha gen.I power up only 2 150 watts in single shade off left side of boat just behind casting deck i pole from deck, second person on platform connected to center seat.I like my light 3 ft or so above water.When poling i try to keep parallel to shore.gig pole 10 ft with B&m spear 8 pk.Gonna get me a trolling mtr soon.Saltwater be a little more specific about answers needed other than were i go.

Nice pics and a great post. I love seeing a younger child smiling after catchin’ some fish!:slightly_smiling_face:

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing poles.

For not having a trolling motor, you are doing very well! Keep up the good work!

SneakyR, I have never gigged, but from the looks of it you are the master. If you ever have an ope spot I would like to learn the ropes and pitch in.

Thanks,

Mac

thanks for the tips sneakyr and sorry about asking what area, i just bid two spear on ebay, both gig head with shipping less than $15. will one day after work go look for some generator which i saw one that’s pretty cheap and it’s also 1000 watt capacity. i’m plan to run 1 500 watt light. is brighter light better than dimmer light? what’s you opinion?

macfos, Far from being the best,Ive been considering offering invites,persons to clean all fish to my satisfaction,1/2 the catch,since you cant legally charge for gas expense must purchase 12 pk mountain dew aprox 85.00 from me.No gps and be willing to wear blindfold, trip in and out.I might not be kidding.Saltwater 2 gigs for 15.00 for flounder gigging good price, you might as well aim um up a hogs hiney but let me know.Again B&m spear 8pk should last you 5 or more seasons aprox 16.00 each.500 watts ok i guess never used that much before.I tell you the truth if it was me Id use deep cycle battery 2 12volt 100 watts bulbs with clip on lights above water so mullet wont jump at light and blow out bulb.take extra bulbs if you do this.macfos email me hightide1503@hotmail.com

Wish I could catch some of those door-mat floundas w/ lite tackle!:smiley:

Oh…Da Floundas…Mmmmm

3 fish,Im gonna let you in on a little secret,& other giggers might agree.When flounder are gigged, 90% are probably in 18 in or less deep in water.When i did do a little what yall call real fishing never figured how to troll or fish that shallow on top of oyster beds.Now i dont claim to know how to catch them hook & line light or heavy,but suggest getting bait where fish might be,like i taught my seven yr old make sure you hold your mouth right, after spitting on bait keep lines in the water fish when bait is forced to leave grass.I dont think you asked for my advice[but there it is}.More to come if neccessary.

man i do a ton of freshwater bowfishing and would love to go out and shoot some flounder… i got a 1660 with 4 400watt hps lights and a 6hp kicker motor… anyone got any tips on how i can get started shootin flounder…any one interested in goin out one night and showin me the ropes? yall can gig and ill shoot them

Slaya,we will take your boat rigged just like you posted only generate all light one spot.We want need stick&sting or gigs just spactula to scoop up already fried fish from bottom.[meant to be funny}

haha i can promise you i dont have problems seeing fish…

Slaya,Sometimes they show up like a neon sign,not often.You say you wouldnt have problem seeing something youve never seem before is like me saying ill hit a pie plate at 30 yrds and never shot a bow before.Now as far as using bow i would be afraid arrow would ricochet off shells, might decide to come back in boat empty handed just looking for something to stick.People say they dont like shooting in shells because it tears up arrows making it too costly.Always moving even if slow,can you hit 1/2 dollar at 6 to 12 ft after holding at full draw for maybe 10 to thirty minutes.Thinking about, yall gig ill just shoot, sounds like we pole and gig you just ride along.Because you wouldnt have time to put dowm gig used as push pole pick up bow, notch arrow aim and release now your shot would be 30 40 ft. O yeah you would have problem seeing some,trust me,dont try to convince me you were born with traind eye for spotting flounder in all situations harder than you think.

i didnt say i wouldnt have a hard time seeing flounder… i said i dont have a hard time seeing fish…never shot flounder but i doubt i would have a hard time seeing them either… especially on my boat… youve never been on a boat with lights like mine so its a LITTLE different than a spot light… and i promise any fish you can stick with a gig i can shoot with my bow… and why would i need to use a push pole? i have a 6hp kicker that i can steer from the front… and i promise i can drive that kicker anywhere you can push your boat… and no… the arrow is not going to ricochet off shells and come back in the boat…that just dont happen… “dont try to convince me you were born with traind eye for spotting flounder in all situations harder than you think.” i wasnt trying to convince you of anything i
