Went out twice this weekend with a buddy and caught a few . Friday went out at night hunting reds and didnt land any but the sharks were hitting hard. Caught two and lost probably 6, I had a 40 ld mono liter that they bit off easily but was surprised to still put two on the board with my red rigs, they were approximately 5 feet each guessing and honestly not sure what kind, they were long and slender not black tips nor lemons. If I would have used metal liter shark set up we would have had a pretty respectable night. The following day tried a different area that was more family friendly. That day I landed one black drum and had a pretty good size red pop off on small tackle on one of the kids in about 6 inches of water so unfortunately no red pics, sorry. I witnessed a pretty amazing site that day for 4-5 hrs massive pods of bait were running just out of casting distance off the beach, the black tips were smashing them the whole time I fished must of had a dozen get air-born and saw the pods being destroyed on top of the water, shark after shark, after shark racing on top of water thrashing around went on for hours I could see some big ones swimming around with considerable distance between the fins it was freakin nuts Ive never seen such a frenzy for so long in my life. Cant explain why I couldnt hit the reds harder, but if I was a red , I would have been no where near that it was mass destruction like Ive never seen before. Still hating those NE winds couldnt keep a line out for sh-t. The bait is without a doubt here so rig up folks and good luck, Its time!
Looks like you had a more productive weekend then me. Black Drum that size are fun to catch. Good looking sharks too.
Thank you Mr Parker, I absolutely believe the NE winds are killing the fish in the surf I had several good weekends then the last two when we had NE winds only 2 reds after hours and hours of fishing Im not even seeing allot of whiting out, you have sold me on the shrimp, which is helping with variety of fish allot, I didnt used to catch a whole lot of drum, but using shrimp instead of squid has helped me allot I appreciate your advice. Theres one thing for sure the winds havent slowed down the sharks at all they were out going nuts. Ive never seen anything like it, smashing huge bait pods for hours, literally getting air born one after the next, and i truly thought I saw a tarpon, but wouldnt bet the house on it. These winds will stop at some point and the bait is here so it should be starting to heat up soon. Stan and the boys would have freaked out.
looks like a finetooth through the grainy photo!

Pic is very poor but I’m guessing small sandbar.
Thank you Mr Warren and Mr Blueline for the help with Identification. I had one other photo that was poor as well but really accented the slender body of the shark. My partner was down the beach so I was in speed mode trying to get the little fellow back ASAP and my phone was wet, happens allot to me, maybe I need to carry a towel or something, but I do get them back fast and kicking, unfortunately my pics more often than not suffer, once again appreciate your help.
