Fished incoming tide today with Zman shad in pearl and natural as well as zman shrimpz rigged on swim bait hook. I gotta say, the zman plastics are pretty awesome. No tears or breaks, I literally fished with the same bait until I changed baits. Not something you can do with a gulp. Today was a personal best on flounder for me. Caught 9 total with 3 for dinner and 3 trout that were all 12-13" and not elgible for dinner as well as one small redfish that I kept for dinner. Most of the flounder were killing the gulp jerk shad in chartruese. I caught 3 in about 5 minutes in one little spot. I was having a ball out there! Got home and cleaned the fish and scored the flounder with my electric filet knife. Then I gave them a soak in buttermilk with Lawry’s and some lemon pepper. I shook them in some zatarains crispy southern style fish breader and baptized them in 350 degree oil. DEEEEEELICIOUS!!!While I only caught one red I did see a huge school of fish of the December variety. I was shocked to say the least to see that many fish together already. Got my heart pounding Only problem was I Wasn’t looking and rolled up right in the middle of them. Saw them about the same time I bumped the trolling motor. You know what happened next. My best guess was somewhere between 150-200 fish all upper slot to over.I think it’s gonna be a nice winter so get ready!!
