I was wondering if there were any bottom species to be found holding around the “A” can in the sound (that is the closer one to shore right). I know it won’t be as productive as the Ed. 40 or 60, but I’m planning on trying some jigging out of my kayak (ok stop snickering:smiley:) so my range is somewhat limited. I know a yak is better suited for inshore creeks and such, but it’s an ocean model so it can handle the open water; that’s not really the discussion, just wanting to try something new.
Are there any other spots in the sound that might have some decent bottom fishing? I don’t know maybe inshore bottom fishing is an oxymoron, but I figure there might be something.
I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Chum- That is the ‘C’ can. Sand bottom, no structure that I have ever seen. Sharks is about all I have caught around that area. Somteimes in the summer the Spanish are in that close but not much on the bottom.

haha i was gettin ready to say man you must have a hell of paddle technique to make it out to A. I’ve taken my yak out in front of the beach near bay point stayin arond 150 yards away from the beach and ruined spanish in the summertime.
Thank you for forgiving my ignorance. You can tell I’m a land lubber. Someday I’ll have to paddle to the A can just for the he!!uvit. Good thing that Coast Guard chopper flies by on the regular!
