I wasnt able to take these since my Nikon D3000 was stolen out of my vehicle, but my aunt took them while we were down there. Great 2 week family vacation.
On the 4th of July, My family beached it around the Pavilion. I was at otter with a group of friends. They told me that they saw the dark spot out and a bunch of bait started jumping off the beach around 100 yards or so and 2 fins popped up…stayed up for quite some time. They got several pictures but this was the best. Looks like a good size.

Hey Bulldog, what boat were you in? I was down last week and spent quite a few days at Otter, didnt get to make it out to fish much just some inshore stuff, boat kept actin up and conditions never quite was what I wanted when I got it right. Did do a lot of crabbing.
And caught some of these
In this
which really has me wondering how the heck that happened. I think it was total of 5 we caught like that.
And then I see a screen like this but nothing bites, is it just trash?
1988 McKee Craft Hammerhead 198CC- “FIVE-O”
I was on a buddies grady white with about 20-30 others. A spade fish in the crab trap is a first I’ve heard of before.

Awesome pics bulldog! I saw the cobia on the fly on your facebook page. That’s pretty sweet. I’ll be down there in 2 weeks. Let me know if you’ll be down that way. I think it’s July 25 - 29.

I really like the pics, especially the 5th one. Yeah, if you hang out on the beach enough eventually you will see some sights. Our group witnessed a large (~est 8 or 9 ft) hammerhead attack a cow nose ray in plain sight of a breaking wave not 15 ft from dry beach (and where our kids were swimming not 5 minutes before!). Luckily we could see it coming (the terrified ray, that is).

Thanks everyone. Koon dog, Im hoping to get back down there around that time. Kearse and I tried pulling a “koon dog day” in which we had no success. Both he and I are looking to get more into the redfish…and more like you

You sure that’s not flipper?
That sure looks like a shark sucker not a cobia. Awesome pictures!
usually with a shark there are 2 fins…
Awesome pics thanks for sharing
flipper has curved fin and sharks are more trianglular.

go to the fish id page under sciences and pick out the shark species based on the fin.

Alright its killing me that is not a cobia!!! People confuse shark suckers all the time for cobia, its an honest mistake they have similar color patterns. Google it and you will see what I mean, cobia are not near as slender. Plus the suction cup on the head is a dead give away, this is actually modified dorsal fin!!! Still looks like you had an awesome weekend and congrats!!!
