Robert and his sons, Calvin and Hunter have a story to tell that they will talk about for many years. After catching a couple of keeper Reds, Calvin had a Red hit his rod so hard that it broke the rods holder. We had some serious scrambling trying to get the rod back in the boat. We caught it with another rod and caught the fish too.
Some real smiles that day. April Fool’s Day, but this wasn’t a joke. I’m just thankful to get my rod back.
All caught on live Mud Minnows.

Yall are lucky to retrieve the rod! Have lost a few myself. And even had rods broken while in the holder!!
I know. Right? Too much money invested in them to lose.

Reds can hit seriously hard. I’ve had them nearly snatch it out of my hand when throwing jigs and I was off-guard.
Moral judgment under girds the entire structure of laws and is necessary for the rational structure of any significant statute. The idea that our laws can stand independent of moral foundation is senseless.----- Albert Mohler.
Glad they got the rod/reel back. I lost an ugly stick w/ an Abu ambassadeur 6500 earlier this year to a sheepshead, a buddy of mine snagged the pole 6 days later w/ the fish still on it. The fish weighed in at 12 lbs.
“Lock em’ down”
Wow, that was a Sheepshead. I’d rather be lucky than good any day of the week.
