No mention of thee head to head records this past weekend, must not be what the ACC fans were looking for…
After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.

I have a favorite team I pull for on game day, you telling me I’m supposed to have a favorite conference to pull for now? This s h I t used to not be so dam complicated .
Apparently only if that conference excels, judging by this weekends performance, you root for one team.

You forgot about the Wolves
The best reason to pull so hard for a conference, is if your team gives you little to be exited about, but belongs to a strong conference. For example, South Carolina fans have lots to say about the mighty SEC because what else would they talk about? They are totally correct about the strength of the SEC. What they fail to acknowledge is that the SEC is great DESPITE their membership, not BECAUSE of it. Alabama fans, on the other hand, are members of the same great conference, but their team itself gives them reason to celebrate. Their team is great, in turn making the conference great. Alabama fans are Alabama fans, not SEC fans. Clemson fans are Clemson fans, not ACC fans. Bottom-of-conference teams’ fans attach themselves to the conference if it’s a good one because they have little else; it’s human nature.

I hope you stretched before attempting that reach.
God bless the “ignore” function.
Spoken like a fan of weak conference

MK, I get it. My point is not that Alabama fans have never chanted “SEC”. It’s that my personal observation from listening to sports radio, the internets, the TV, being around people in real life, etc. is that Alabama fans in general have more to say about their team’s performance than that of their conference, as compared to Gamecock fans (and others) who seem to be disproportionately concerned about the conference. There also seems to be a level of mutual respect among fans of top tier teams. If you went to Tampa this year you might have witnessed this. Sure, there are exceptions that can be pointed out and probably even You-tubed.
Fritz didnt get a nibble. Wcarlis let things settle and caught four on one cast.

Why wouldn’t fans of a particular school not also be a fan of the conference said school is part of? Granted, I’m a Terps fan and can’t stand the Big 10 but the fact that I’m a Terps fan explains a lot.
It’s no different fans of the NFL. If your favorite team is in the NFC but doesn’t make it to the Super Bowl, you’ll tend to pull for the NFC team to win. Same thing for baseball…American league versus National league.
Personally, I think someone’s disproportionate bias is what is leading to this sentiment as it pertains to USC fans.

I think most people for a conference for only one reason. Strength of schedule. If you are a great team in a junk conference you may go undefeated and not get a shot at the playoffs. You need the teams in your conference to be strong, but I am not a fan of the victory by association mentality that you see in some.
I agree with Andy. I dont like the “we win because the conference wins” crap. But the SOS does make a difference. Look at schools like Boise state. they would dominate there competition then get destroyed by a better conference team. He11 look at Clemson, for awhile they got zero credit for beating up on ACC teams. Because most of the ACC was crap. Conference matters.
