I will be in Charleston in mid-July to visit my sister and her two girls. They want me to take them to catch a fish. Croaker, spot, ground mullet, what ever pulls a line. Any advice on where to take them? I’ve found these public piers on the SC DNR website:
Crosby’s Seafood Dock. On Folly Road, James Island
Charleston Waterfront Park, Concord Street, Charleston
Brittlebank Park Pier, West Lockwood Boulevard
James Island County Park Pier.
Pitt Street Bridge.
Any other good spots I missed?
Thanks for the help!
I’m fairly new to the pier fishing here but I’ve found that Folly Pier is very popular and has alot of people on it during the summer months. I fish the Mt Pleasant pier the most. Folly pier is alot longer than the Mt Pleasant pier. It’s nice to have a pier cart. I don’t think there’s going to be a wrong one to go to.
Is the Folly Pier pretty kid friendly?
Would we be just as well off targeting whiting from the beach? I’ve got sand spikes/rod holders and proper tackle.
The beach might be kinda crowded if you plan on going on the weekend. Plus your not allowed to fish on the beach 500ft on either side of the peir starting Memorial Day i beleive.Or you could fish the lighthouse but it wouldnt be kid friendly.
