will be back on edisto in june. would like to charter a boat for some near shore fishing. can any of you recomend anyone. would like a 6-8 hour trip and prob. 4-5 people thanks for the advice in advance. ive never chartered before but i want to treat my dad and brothers to a little fishin trip this year.
phishinphan,
The public landing at Edisto is about 1 mile before you get to the beach - Live Oak. It is part of the State Park system, but a good landing. Sometime the dock is in need of repair, but not usually.
Live Oak is nice landing. Just be careful if using the ramp around dead low on one of the very low tides. I backed my trailer either off the end of the ramp or over some type of added on hump last year. Trailer frame bottomed out. Fortunately the boat floated and all was well. I have a 20 foot CC on a tandem trailer.
The day before I put in at Steamboat - close to low again. Mud, Mud and more Mud. Did I mention the mud. North Edisto and the Deveraux Banks are absolutely beautiful. Worth the trip out just to see it.
I try to put in at least 2 hours before/after low - could not get my fishing partners butt in gear on these two days.
i second EWT. i worked there a couple summers ago. i pretty sure their number is still 843.869.0663. they do half day trips and that cost a few hundred bucks for nearshore or inshore. i think you can take up to four people. you wont have a problem booking a charter this far in advance.
ive decided on yard boy charters in charleston. the capt, john, said he would pic us up at edisto marina, he was not the cheapest but he wasent the most expensive. he seemed to be very knowledgeble and accomadating but i guess they all are. if any one has fished with this service i would love to hear about your experience. thanks again for all the input.
he said he would have to charge 25$ xtra for the distance but he said he fishes edisto waters semi regularly. i might be misquoting him but i think his boat comes out of waccamow(sp) or some island that starts with a “w” the way he talked it was only a 35 min trip from his place to edisto.
Not to disagree with any of the forum members but I met CPT. Fralin today and he seems to be very knowledgeable in the south Edisto area. Have not been on a guided fishing trip with him but he is very helpful in giving you information on where to go to target what you are looking for. We even caught a couple of fish today on one of his secret spots in the wind and rain.
Ask to fish with the owner, Dillard…he’s the better inshore guide. Also Capt Steve Fralin and Capt David Simmons are very good at Ugly Duckling Charters. they can be reached at Edisto Marina. 843.869.3504
I would also suggest bottom fishing or slightly offshore king fishing with Charlie Morrow at Edisto Watersports. He’s great at both.
Offshore charters should be Capt. Bost at the Edisto Marina fishing the Blessed Adventure…40’ Bertram. the best blue water option with many succesful blue water (dolphin, wahoo, marlin…etc) catches 843.869.3504
