After the "STORM"

After not fishing last weekend, had to go today. On the beach at 6:45AM. 65 degrees, light wind off the beach, calm surf. Beautiful morning after. Fall is coming!!! Was not expecting much with all the rain. Whiting bite was consistant first couple hours, then slowed. Caught a dozen or so Rays, a few were in the 10-12lb range. Wish I could have stayed longer, I am sure the bite would have picked up again closer to low tide.

As always, a great day.

How was the current, do we still have rip tides? Did it seem as if there was a lot of debris from the storm in the water?

Im heading out tomorrow morning

Good to see you getting out Mr. Parker, hope things are well. I’m going to give it a try tomorrow. I have got family day going on, otherwise I’d be needing a buddy. The weather is on the turn and Fall is near, but it sure goes by fast. It’s about time to sling some mullet. Thank you for your report Sir.

The surf was very calm, pretty flat with zero current. The currents from the storm did flatten out the surf floor. No real troughs or cuts to be found. All fish were caught wwaayy out. I was chunkin’ 4oz on 15lb mono with a 9 footer and a breeze at my back. I would guess maybe 70-80yrds? Not sure I hit 100:stuck_out_tongue:? maybe?

Thanks Pete, much better now. I’ll be in Columbia tomorrow back on the beach Mon. morning. I’m thinking end of this month or so before I pitch any chunk bait or that secret “blue” bait:wink:. Football is here, the bulls are close behind.

We were out at Kiawah Sunday from high to low Sunday afternoon and the beach was smooth with no troughs as far as I could see in both directions.
