You’ve gotta love November! Best fishing of the year, weather is nice, and the beach, for the most part, free of pilgrams.
IOP 11/1
On the beach around 9:00AM. Whiting, Black Drum, Blues right off the bat. Consistant bite until high tide, slowed at the turn, picked up again around 1:00, more Black Drum and nice Whiting. Packed up at 3:30.
Was a pretty good day all around. Caught about 20 Black Drum, most under slot, a few decent. A dozen or so fat Whiting and some dinks, pesky Blues, One baby Jack Crevalle, another record Pomp. No Red Drum bites, only had one big rod out with cut bait.
Check out the “Back Drum Bottom”.
nice report. what sort of bait were you soaking?
Thats a great day and thank you for the post Mr. Parker

Shrimp… always. I did cut up 3 Whiting and 1 Blue fish, no bites.
Hey David, I’m glad you had a good day fishing. November is my favorite surf fishing month too. We were on the IOP yesterday walking on the beach and I saw that saw kind of bottom too as the tide dropped. Wishing I was fishing.

Hope to come across you again out there Jack, I have read that those holes and cuts are created by the Black Brum “rooting” the bottom. They call them “Drum noodles”…I know sounds kinda silly (they could have picked a better name). I had a ton of bites, most were small, 6"-10", missed a bunch. Those Black Drum bite light most of the time, I usually can’t hold one rod, with 4 lines out. Sometimes you have to hold the rod, wait for a little pressure, and set the hook.
Waking the beach without a rod?..thats worse than riddin’ in a boat with no rods!
That’s the truth David !
It was our anniversary, and apparently even thinking about fishing is not allowed. Anyway, I’ve managed to stay married to the same wife for 29 years. I’m working 6 days right now, so hopefully I’ll get to go this Sunday.

Man…
I was out yesterday and there was a bunch biting but nothing on the hook (i know i know it’s my fault. My hooks need to be changed out). Did manage to actually hook and land a few nice whiting though. The shrimp wasn’t getting any bites, but the cut finger mullet was. no reds for me.
Glad to see the black drum coming in
