I got a call back from Yellabird Friday morning. He had a crew, some numbers, tanks, I brought the boat and we were ready to go. We gave Chunky and Pallet a 1hr head start with their crew. The Judge and I met up with Kent, Yellabird, and Prenup to head out of Georgetown in the All Rise. Ride out was beautiful. Kent and Yellabird shared shark attack stories on the way through the jetties. Making me alittle hesitant on the first “sharky” spot of the day.
We made 4 dives at 4 different locations, depths were 80-105 feet, water temp was 58-62, stayed around the wrecks and ledges, vis was okay and the fish were there.
Kent and Yellabird are in a league of there own. It was nice to hang out with the pros for a change. I learned alot, shot some good fish, and was not eaten by the numerous large Sand tigers. (Them things are nasty looking.) All in all a great day.
Highlights:
Kent girlfriend is awesome! She can flat drive a boat, put with suiting us up, all our stupid remarks, pulled tanks and fish into the boat and never complained a bit. Fun to be around, not many like her. They are both welcome anytime.
Swimming with ginormous sand tiger. They supposedly will not bother you and none did but man that is a serious looking animal.
Took the generator and had a hot shower after the dive.
On the way home we passed school of what we thought were sun fish, ran about 200 more yards. (running 36knts) and WAAMMM! Sounded like I hit a log. Look back and a HUGE shark comes flying out of the water 17+ feet long. We went back to see if we killed him but found nothing. Saw the school of above mentioned sun fish and it was not sun fish instead HUGE sharks. We stayed with them for 10 mins or so. They swam up to the boat numerous times but due to low light we could not positively identify them. Huge dorsal fins, and the gap between that and their tail was l-o-n-g.
Fresh grouper sandwich for lunch today was awesome.
Again thanks to Yellabird and Kent for showing some new tricks.
