alligator in fish creek

</font id=“Georgia”>

Pardon the first time atempt at posting hit enter and it was over. Any way fishing in Fish Creek Sunday and there was a 8’+ alligator just hanging around 150 yards from the oyster Rakes on right of Fish creek, fish there often and had never seen him/her. I have seen alligators in the Creeks before and they would be near fresh water impoundments this one was 1 sandbar from the Atlantic. Anyway troll up to it to see if it might have been a salt water crock every time I got close it would submerg. Anyway Kick myself for no Pic’c you fellows seem to have need to see before you belive.

I believe you. On Sunday, we saw three gators in the ICW between the Dahwoo Bridge and the North Edisto. This gator season thing can’t come quick enough for me.

Have also seen them near Dawhoo bridge and saw one next to Steamboat Landing last year.

Saltwater Crocs are native to SE Asia and Australia. You won’t find any anywhere around here.

That is an American Crocodile. Native to Central America. Also native in Southern Florida. Big Difference between that and a Salty.

Some may have escaped from the Edisto Serpentarium, swam up Store Creek, then St. Pierre, then the Edisto River to the Dawhoo Bridge.

I’ve seen gators in the ocean off Hilton Head, Edisto, and Dewee’s Island. Rattle snakes and Deer as well.

I was pulling my kids tubing a couple of weeks ago down from the Dawhoo Bridge and saw a pretty big gator swim across the creek. I was probably a mile or so from the ICW up in the creek. I have always been told they don’t like salt water, but I was clearly in salt water. I suppose they are adapting.

They have been here for a very long time!

Hunter Bunter

Since the Jurassic Period and through the Ice Age. I think they can survive some saltwater.:smiley:
I will find out if I can survive next weekends gator hunt.
