Already enough deer......

and the season hasn’t started. Out of 4 people hunting over 1 week 14 hanging in the cooler and have given 16 to neighbors. Can’t keep them off the soybeans. Lot’s of small does. Not sure if all the rain has run them out the swamps and into the fields, but it is ridiculous. Got two fields that need replanting when we can get back in them. Counted 42 yesterday in just three fields.

I think we need to let some big bucks walk and focus on all the scrub bucks and even more focus on thinning out some does.

your already shooting deer? do you have some special farm permit?

What Mecs said. We had some pissed off adjacent land owners this week end. I had the courtesy to show one a field of beans that we are waiting to dry just a little before replanting. Told him the actual cost that the deer were causing. Maybe he understood? His brother doesn’t, but nothing he can do about it.

We are culling the trash from the herd as we can.

never heard of such. if they are whipping out your crops then you should be killing them. just like shooting a fox that got in the chicken coop

we are perfectly legit with DNR’s blessing and permit of approval. We are trying to be responsible with it. We will still have some Trophy bucks to take this fall.

Killed 9 in 2013 and 17 last year. Counting all the babies too, 28 pigs this year and not sure how many last year.

Standing orders from the Boss, shoot any coyote over anything else.

If you’re having to kill so many deer on depredation permits, sounds like you need to leave the yotes alone and let them do some work.

BTW, you need any help, I got a lot of ammo loaded.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

"We", that a reference to a farm or plantation?

joeboo I’d love to come help you out with thinning the herd…

yotes don’t do the damage people think they do, they’ve been around forever out west and haven’t put a dent in any population anywhere else in the country

the deer learn how to deal with them too

our population problem (if we have one) is more due to the the type of hunters many of us know that are walking around all day everyday during deer season either on disability or retired shooting as many deer as they see

if you’re stalking land all day everyday you get to know exactly where all the deer are, some people have no trigger control… I know one guy in our last club killed 40 a year from pocket size on up and didn’t even eat it, taught his son the same bad ethics… he’s a disability case…

I’ve known many more like him, the land can’t support but so much…

I saw at least a hundred deer last year, shot two… saw several yotes too but I’m not seeing the shortage many talk about

anyway, need some help joeboo? I know quite a few people low on meat…

The owners really like turkey and quail probably better than deer. All Coyotes are shot with no arguments.

Love to bring some in, but as it stands I can rarely get my son in on the “hunts”.

We are getting close to our quota and deer meat has been spoken for. It will not go to waste.

A working Plantation… of sorts. Maybe a little help with the tax man.

You know that’s really funny that in today’s society we have to distinguish a plantation from a farm. My how things have changed.

Yes mam! and as it stands now I think we have more standing water than you! Your peanuts look like they could use a little dry weather. All said and done, I’m proud of the rain we’ve had. We need it.

pfft, water we have water. My stand is in several feet of water and my shooting lane looks a lot like the edisto river. really.

Really? It’s retired and disabled hunters creating your perceived problem (if there is one)? Uhhh, I fail to see any relevance here, no population problem on this spread. A few disabled and retired hunters, however, might help with this depredation problem …

maby them there soybeans got some special nutrients in them like that food inc.show. Maby you can geneticaly alter and get.monsterbuck, and betty doe!Ha! ha! Id come help thin the herd.silently arrow style

no limit on bucks, but tags for does is what I would cite as the problem.
