Down in my favorite place in the world this week and hoping for the best. Interested to see what all the water heading down the rivers will do to the fish and shrimp. Of course the winds are supposed to blow but hopefully that storm gets pushed further out to sea. If you have any suggestions I sure would appreciate them as we only get one week a year to fish the area. We’ll try our usual spots but nervous we’re gonna strikeout…
Are you bringing a boat?
Yes sir, have a 21ft skiff
You can usually get out of the wind in Scott Creek. It’s off of Big Bay inland.
Other than that, anywhere between Live Oak Landing and Fenwick Cut will be fishable. Lots of feeder creeks and grass banks with hard bottom and drops along them.
Take a castnet and get some shrimp and finger mullet in Scott Creek on Low tide, then fish your way out would be where I might start.
Look forward to the reports, especially of all the snook apparently in the area now.
Also don’t overlook the sheepshead on the docks this time of year. Fiddlers for bait are easy to catch, just keep your eye out, they are plentiful. Hard fish to catch consistently, but worth the effort this time of year.
Hope that helps

Thank you! Really appreciate the help! Will definitely post a report. Any bait shrimping reports lately?
Should be able to get em in the creeks after the water is out of the grass
Shrimp are good in N.Edisto but size real mixed up as of last week
Unfortunately the trip last week was pretty much a bust. Not sure if we timed it wrong or what but struck out on shrimp-zilch. Boat was at big bay so went to combahee banks area. Talked to some deep jokers and they were struggling too. We’ve done bad but never struck out. Caught about 15 crabs the first day and then maybe got 10 combined rest of the week. That was in a creek we usually load up on crabs and noticed the commercial guys were concentrated only in a few areas. As for fish we’d catch 1 per hole at best and then nothing. Couldn’t even catch trash fish. I heard of others catching fish but also heard others struggled. The weather was beautiful but it was the least productive trip I’ve had there unfortunately. We fished the rising tide and the tides never seemed to get real low. Used mud minnows, live and dead shrimp and cut mullet. Maybe next year…. Thank y’all for your help!
