I know this is a slow time of the year on the surf but is there any action at all? I’m new to the area and just itching to start fishing.
The water is still cold for most people. It pretty busy out at Folly once the temps come up. I’ve been going there for years and have caught stingray, shark, and redfish.
Sauerkraut
I headed out for the first time this morning. It was cold but I had plenty of layers. No fish, just crabs eating my shrimp and mullet. I’ll be back at it as soon as my fingers thaw.
Been fishing the surf at Folly since early Dec on the east end and have only managed some small black drum on shrimp halves casting close in to the groins.
Gotten lazy lately though and just put two rods in sand spikes and have been skunked about the last 4 times out.
Took the family for a walk on Sunday 1/20. Saw a guy I work with setting up down by the lighthouse early afternoon. At work on Monday he said he got 5 sharks on mullet all between 2 and 3 feet long. Got a whiting and an unknown “red thing”. He is new to the area and just started fishing here. He was skunked the Sunday before last.
