I’m taking a few kids this weekend to the State Park and we are going to surf fish. Anyone have any ideas on what is hitting, and what we should use? Thanks, Coach B

Since your at the SP go out to the beach turn left and its the first inlet you come to. Sharks are the most prevalent catch. Cut bait on wire leaders.

Lots of variety at edisto. I dug up old forum posts saying a tiger was caught on the beach somewhere around there. Mostly blacktips/spinners and maybe a lemon or two and I saw one report of a 6’ bull too.

Any clue on what weight line we need, how far we need to get bait out, and you say throw everything at 'em… is that artificial too? Last year on the Jetties at Huntington Beach we found we could even through freshwater stuff from the Jetties and if it shined they would hit it. If we do that near the inlet and surf do you think we will have success? Thanks

biggest surf reel you have, 30-80lb braid, as far as you can cast. Cut fresh whiting/bluefish or mullet (you may have to catch some first). If you use mullet you will get lots of species to bite. Sharks swim where you swim, if youre in waist deep water, you can catch a shark.

Fishing was decent but we got burnt bad, cut up our feet on all the shells, and only pulled in one shark over 3 foot. I would have hoped for better fishing, but hey it wasn’t bad. Next up is Huntington Beach Jetties this Wednesday. Any advice on fishing Jetties?
